Cadw's description
Location
Attractive setting on lower slopes of upper Lugg Valley, approached via lane from south side of B4356.
History
Possibly late C17 in origin, considerably enlarged and re-ordered in early C19.
Exterior
L-plan, the east wing being the later addition. Coursed rubble stone, slate roofs with deep eaves, rubble end stacks, that to the east wing projects and has a brick upper. Former main doorways to earlier range (at either end of cross passage?) now blocked; present main entrance of early C19 date set in northern corner, six flush-panelled door with overlight and open flat-roofed porch with two slender turned columns.
Harmonious window arrangement throughout of variously proportioned moulded timber frames with iron-framed casements and small-pane glazing, all under dressed stone flat arches and with stone cills.
Outbuilding: Attached former stable with loft; rubble stone, iron roof, boarded double doors, small-pane glazing.
Reason for designation
Included as a good example of a late vernacular farmhouse in an important and unspoilt landscape setting.
