History
Early C19 cast-iron mileplate affixed to rounded sandstone marking distance on the turnpike road to Bishops Castle. The turnpike roads were established c. 1768.
Exterior
Milestone with early C19 cast-iron plate affixed to possibly earlier round headed stone. Plate reads 'Miles/ from/ M,gomery. ½ / Bps, Castle. 8'. First word follows curve of head.

Included as a turnpike road milestone of special historic transport interest.
