Set at an angle to the through road, divided by one further cottage (No2) from the corner with W side of West Street.
History
Mid to later C19 single storey cottage, part of the Orange Town development laid out on land called Lion Fields bought by Isaac Williamson of Greenhill, Pwllcrochan, in 1861 to build "comfortable cottages for respectable mechanics". There are five parallel streets: on the c1865 town map, West Street and Paynter Streets are not yet laid out. Similar houses were built at Kingsbridge Cottages and are also to found in the Pennar area of Pembroke Dock. West Street has 6 houses on the W side with two further attached along South Road of which No 1 is the better preserved.
Exterior
Low single-storey two-window cottage with rendered front and exposed gable end to left. Pitched slate roof with end cappings and rendered stacks with weather courses. Windows are 4-pane horned sashes in raised reveals; centre doorway with roll-moulded edges and modern door under plain fanlight.
Reason for designation
Included for its special interest as one of the least-altered and best examples of the single-storey houses in the orange Town development.
