Location
Just NW of the Old Smithy at Ponde some 1.8km NW of Felin Newydd.
History
Lofted building, possibly late C18, apparently a smithy, but with domestic type end chimneys. Marked on 1842 Llandefalle Tithe map as blacksmith's shop owned by Ann Morgans occupied by Watkin Pryce.
Exterior
Outbuilding, whitewashed rubble stone with square stone end stacks, the left one truncated. Asbestos sheet roof. Two storeys with square first floor window to left and right, over five-bay ground floor: window, door, window; door and window. Cambered heads with stone voussoirs to ground floor openings, 4-pane glazing to windows, boarded doors. Upper windows are under eaves.
Interior
Interior not inspected.
Reason for designation
Included for its special interest as a small C18 outbuilding of vernacular type, associated with a smithy.
