History
Early Cl9 building continuous with No 2, remodelled 1913-15 by Woolfall and Eccles architects of Liverpool in conversion to banking use.
Exterior
2-storeys, with 2-window elevations to both streets and l-window splayed corner. Scribed render to lst floor with rusticated quoins; channel rusticated to tall ground floor with freestone cornice, dressings and high vermiculated plinth with blind panelling. Hipped slate roof with very wide, dentilled, eaves; blue brick chimney stack (shared with No 3). The lst floor of the splayed corner is stepped back and surmounted by raised freestone open pediment containing bank logo. 12-pane sash windows to lst floor with architraves and bracket cills; panelled apron to splayed corner window. Modern banking fascia to ground floor. Segmental labels over semi-circular arched openings with keystones and roll moulded jambs; marginal glazing bars to bank windows. Double panelled doors with plain fanlight. Similar l-window elevation facing up Penrallt Street; narrow 8-pane window.
