Cadw's description

In the easternmost block of buildings in Castle Street, and opposite Rating Row.

Built in the late C18 or early C19 and shown on the 1829 town plan as a house. An early C20 photograph shows the building still a house, with an oriel window in the first floor. The present shop front is late C20.

A late Georgian 3-storey 3-bay house and shop of whitened render, slate roof and brick stack to the R. The lower storey, formerly 2 shops, has C20 shop fronts with doorways under overlights to the centre and small-pane shop windows to the outer sides. Access to the upper floors is by inserted panelled door and overlight at the L end. The middle storey has a 16-pane horned sash window in the centre, and 12-pane tripartite outer horned sash windows (of which the L-hand replaced an oriel window). The upper storey has small-pane tripartite fixed windows in the outer bays and central gable with a pointed small-pane sash window with intersecting glazing bars.

Extended and rebuilt at the rear.

Altered with conversion to a shop.

Listed for its special architectural interest as a house and shop retaining late Georgian character and detail, and for its contribution to the historical integrity of Castle Street.
