Location
An isolated cottage reached by a path on the S of Rosemary Lane and situated behind (S of) St Michael's RC church.
History
Built in the second half of the C19 and first shown on the 1889 Ordnance Survey.
Exterior
House of snecked rock-faced grey stone with red-sandstone tooled dressings, slate roof on projecting eaves, and roughcast stack to the R. 2 storeys and attic, 2-window range. Openings are offset to the L. The entrance on the L side has a panel door and overlight. Windows are 12-pane horned sashes.
The gable ends are pebble-dashed. The L gable end, which has a small attic window, is continuous with a rear outshut, which has 4-pane and 8-pane sash windows to the 1st floor and small-pane window below. To the rear is a 1st-floor 12-pane sash window in the main range on the L side of the outshut.
Interior
Not inspected.
Reason for designation
Listed for its special architectural interest as a small C19 house retaining definite original character, and for its contribution to the overall historical townscape.
