Corner site fronting top of High Street and square at top of Bank Street.
History
Early C19.
Exterior
Regency building now restaurant on two storeys with service rooms above. Rendered with high parapet with painted coping in front of hipped slate roof with long narow brick stack. Three storeys separated by platbands. Four-window range of 12-pane sashes with narrow glazing bars in reveals with wide flat sills: two windows in High Street elevation, one in radius and one in end elevation. Both elevations of ground floor have C19 shop fronts with Corinthian pilasters, moulded mullions, wooden fascia overall, plate glass windows; corner entrance. Blank rear elevation to Bank Street except for single sash to uper floor. Attached to 29a not listed.
Reason for designation
Listed as a building within the historic centre retaining its basically Georgian character, in a dominant corner position. Group value with other listed buildings around Towngate.
