Shown on 5 historical map sheets, the earliest the 1795 "To Sir Watkin Williams-Wynn Bart ... the map of the six counties of North Wales is most humbly inscribed by his obedient humble servant" (Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru – The National Library of Wales).
Cadw's description
Location
At south east of the village of Bettws Gwerfil Goch, over a minor tributary of the Afon Alwen.
History
Probably C18, but undateable. The bridge appears to take its present name from a small nearby Independent chapel dated 1850.
Exterior
A small vernacular village bridge, in uncoursed local rubble masonry. The stream passes through four rough-stonework openings each less than a metre in width and capped with large stone slabs. The road is about 4 m wide between the parapets. The parapets are of segmental profile, rising to less than a metre high at the mid span; coping of upright stones.
Reason for designation
A well preserved minor vernacular village bridge of increasingly rare type.
