Cadw's description

Situated on track (Weirglodd-newydd) immediately above Talysarn.

Shown on the 1840 Tithe Map, this pair of early C19 cottages was probably built as quarryworkers' cottages for one of the several slate quarries opening in the area at this time.

Has matchboarded ceiling with lower parts of 2 A-frame trusses visible beneath and a short screen immediately to right of entrance in right room; C19 plank door leads to left room.

Included as one of a pair of purpose-built and well-preserved quarryworkers' cottages, built in the local vernacular tradition and forming a distinctive component in this important upland encroachment landscape.
