Cadw's description
Location
The bridge carries a minor road from Bryncrug to Llanfihangel over the Afon Dysynni.
History
There was a bridge at Ystumanner in the late C18, for repairs were carried out in 1811 at the same time as Pont Ty'n-y-fach. The construction of the present bridge suggests it was largely rebuilt at that time. The name derives from the historic commote division for the S end of the county.
Exterior
Built of rubble stonework. A depressed segmental arch of voussoirs set back below a regulating course, spanning 6.75m and rising 1.16m above the stream, carrying flush spandrels and parapet coped with rubble slate. The carriageway is 4.6m wide plus parapets of 0.45m. In the W abutment a small square flood culvert.
Reason for designation
Included as a well preserved country bridge of a type erected widely in the early C19 in W Wales.
