Cadw's description

At entrance of private drive to Gliffaes, on S side of a minor road to S of Myarth hill.

Erected c1881 with Gliffaes Lodge by the Reverend W. West at the entrance to the new house at Gliffaes.

Gateway with square piers of ashlar red sandstone, with swept pyramidal caps and orb finials. Double cast iron gates have scrolled lower, upper and lock rails, and elaborately scrolled overthrow. Piers are flanked by dwarf stone walls with flat brick coping which are swept up to piers and crowned by brick scrolls.

Well-detailed gateway which, with adjacent Gliffaes Lodge, is integral to the setting of Gliffaes, a large late C19 Italianate mansion.
