Cadw's description
Location
In burial ground on S side of Cwmdu church.
History
Medieval cross shaft (probably C14) re-set on a new plinth in 1831-33 with a sundial on top.
Exterior
The cross shaft base is square with broach stops to the angles (where it turns octagonal to carry the former cross shaft), and stands on a C19 stepped plinth of hammer-dressed stone. Above the base is the shaft of a sun dial, which is also square in plan with chamfers and broach stops, and has an octagonal top, although the dial and gnomon are now missing.
Reason for designation
A good example of components of a medieval preaching cross and having group value with the church.
