Location

Near the N boundary of the community near Afon Llynfi and N of the village of Llanfihangel Tal-y-llyn, reached by a farm track.

History

Probably early C18 in origin though with later alterations in C19 and C20.

Exterior

U shaped range of farmhouse to S, barn and byre range attached at right angles E with house frontage extending across barn, cartshed at right angles N and thus opposite house. House and farm range of limewashed stone with rendered gable end; slate roof; 2 end stacks, the right of brick, and one lateral brick stack to front and a low offset at gable end. Outward facing elevation has 3 small 6 pane hoppers at eaves level, windows with altered glazing under timber lintels to ground floor; farmyard facing elevation is narrower because barn takes up one bay, thus there is a central doorway, small 4 pane window to left, similar double to right and two windows similar to front at first floor. Attached range with corrugated roof has barn to left with opposing double doors and additional doorway to right; byre to right with 3 segmental arched openings to ground floor and boarded loft openings; single bay cartshed range at right angles.

Interior

House has central entry passage plan with stairs ascending front left, kitchen to right, parlour in barn wing to left. Cow byre and stable with hayloft above in attached range has pegged collar and tie roof trusses. Divided from byre by a wall, the barn has trusses with struts and 2 rows of staggered trenched purlins; ventilation slits.

Reason for designation

Included as a small C18 farmstead still retaining historic character.
