Location
Located on the S side of the farmyard of Trefarthen.
History
Built probably early C18. The building appears to be shown on a Vaynol estate map dated 1777.
Exterior
A five bay corn barn with wide opposed doors to centre. Rubble walls with two tiers of slit vents in the lateral walls, 7 either side of the doors. Three levels of slits vents to gable walls, partly blocked. Pitched slate roof with slate slab copings, tapered finial with weather-vane to E end. Central tall doors with stone voussoir basket arch, pitching door over door on N side, and blocked door to E gable.
Interior
Roof has four queen-post trusses. Beam to support loft formerly running on either side of door, but one only remains ('1833' painted on). Vents have small timber struts across, formerly holding wire bars. Area of threshing floor beteween doors has stone slabs.
Reason for designation
Listed as a good and unaltered example of an early C18 corn barn,which forms part of an exceptionally complete farmstead group at Trefarthen.
