Cadw's description
Location
The formal sunken garden lies to the W of the main state rooms of Kinmel. The gazebo and summerhouse form the SW corner of the walled area.
History
Built as part of the garden layout, probably under the guidance of W A Nesfield, father of the architect of the new Kinmel, in c1870-75.
Exterior
Built of brick with sandstone dressings, as the house. A wide flight of steps with a brick stone-capped balustrade lead up in 2 flights at right angles to a viewing platform, supported on an arched substructure forming a summer house. Round arches with moulded extrados and key on 2 sides, and a square window with eared and shouldered architrave.
Interior
Three shallow brick barrel vaults are carried on iron joists.
