Cadw's description

Situated at end of short track on N side of by-road leading to Cilcennin. Approximately 2km E of Cilcennin.

Early C19, shown on 1843 Tithe map. The owners and occupiers were Margaret Jones, John Edwards, David Thomas and Jenkin Davies. Originally two cottages; the right hand one is probably the later and was used as a cowshed from the early C20.

Main house with rendered one and a half storey front. The other cottage/cowshed has a painted rubble front. Slate roofs, the slates laid in diminishing courses. Rubble end chimney stacks to main house with slate tabling. Three bay front to house, offset to left. Two single pane attic windows rising to eaves. Late C19 sash windows to ground floor, originally of 6 panes but upper glazing bars removed. No sills. Added gabled porch to centre with boarded inner door. Single storey C20 additions to left against front, with corrugated roofs.

Former second cottage to right with three bay front offset to left. Central boarded door with early C20 4-pane window to left and 6-pane window to right: stone voussoired heads. Wooden lean-to against right end.

Main house with boarded door to left room, which has thin sawn joists: modern fireplace. Former cottage has collar-truss roof and chanelled flue in right hand wall, suggesting a former hooded fireplace.

Attractive and unspoilt former pair of cottages with early C19 regional character.
