Cadw's description
Location
Situated N of Trehafod on the mountain road leading NW from Hafod Fawr; at the boundary between Trehafod and Porth Community Council areas.
History
Of unknown date although angle of road shown on current (1965) OS 1:1250 map is the same as appears on early OS map of c1830 and tithe map of 1842. The lane clearly preceded industrial development and linked the trio of Hafod Farms, one the home of Bassets of Miskin and Hafod Fawr at least dating partly from 1600, and other mountain farms.
Exterior
A deep curved revetment of coursed rubble built against hillside to carry road across steep Cwm, with parapets with saddle back coping and distinctive, pointed arched, culvert for stream with rubble voussoirs.
Reason for designation
Listed as a rare surviving mountain revetment bridge of the pre-industrial period.
