Located in the road verge under the hedge, on the straight section of road across the valley between Pont Ysgawrhyd and Ystumcolwyn.

Mile post or marker, c.1820 for the Montgomeryshire Turnpike Trust.
Cast iron. Triangular plan with sloping top rising to rounded back plate.
Raised cast lettering reading, on SE face, LLANFYLLIN 5 - M; on NW face: WELSHPOOL 7 - M; and on backplate: LAKE VYRNWY / / 16 - M
Reason for designation
Included as the sole surviving mile marker on the Welshpool to Llanfyllin turnpiked road.
