Set into the terrace between Great Darkgate Street and Eastgate, stepped in the slope.

History

Shown on 1834 map. No 11, Compton House, formerly housed the town’s first free library.

Exterior

Pair of late Georgian 3-storey stucco fronts; 1-window to No 9, 2-window to No 11; rubble chimney stack. Small-pane sash windows. Victorian shop front with pilasters to No 9, modern shop front to No 11.
