Floridsdorfer Tempel
Andreas Streit (1840-1916)
Here stood a synagogue built by Andreas Streit in 1875-1877. On the night of 9/10 November 1938 the NS regime initiated a pogrom directed against the Jewish population, which was cynically and euphemistically called "Reichskristallnacht". This house of worship was subsequently used as a storehouse and was bombed in spring 1945. Over 65 500 Austrian Jews fell victim to the Shoah.
