Josef Baldermann (misspelled on the plaque!) was a tool miller or tool turner respectively. Most recently he worked at the Metallwarenfabrik Blau. Together with his workmate Walter Schopf (1922-1943) he collected money in the Nazi era for the families of prisoners, distributed illegal leaflets and helped build resistance groups.

The residential building at Hellwagstraße 4 stands on the site of the former Blau metalware factory. The plaque unveiled in 1955 was put up by former work colleagues of the murdered resistance fighters, in their memory.
1971 the plaque was re-installed on the cooperative housing complex built on the grounds of the former factory at that time.
