Johann Sioly (1843 -1911), composer, was above all a well-known exponent of the Wienerlied and the couplet, Kapellmeister and pianist. In 1963 the Siolygasse in the 19th district of Vienna was named after him.

On 21.10.1961 a commemorative plaque was installed on the house at Myrthengasse 4 for the Viennese composer Johann Sioly, who lived and died at this address. After the plaque was lost during renovation work, a new plaque of the same design and with identical text was installed in 2003.
