Description

HOUSE with Empire cornice-topped facade in ashlar and provided with a Doric cornice, dating from the middle of the 18th century. Located on the corner of Morgenstraat. The entire property is covered by a roof structure probably dating from the mid-19th century, which at that time, by heightening of the side walls, replaced the roofs of the front and rear house from the middle of the 15th century. In the new roof structure are incorporated straightened oak timbers from the original roof. From both original roof structures the lower collar ties are still present. The front house is four bays deep and the rear house three. The floor levels of the rear house are higher than those of the front house. Both were provided with a timber frame with mortise-and-tenon beam layers, key pieces and consoles (in the rear house); all still largely present. The front house is partially cellared. The cellar consists of two parts, both provided with a barrel vault (parallel to the street) of which the rear part partially extends under the property standing to the left of it. From the rear cellar a stone staircase leads upward; its walls are faced with 18th-century manganese tiles. The rear and right side facade contain still significant traces of the original and later building history.
