Stadhuis. Het stadhuis bestaat uit een elf traveeën brede langsgevel en links hiervan een achtzijdige traptoren, beide gebouwd tussen 1509 en 1520, gerestaureerd 1897-1881 en 1910; rechts een in 1894 aangebouwde vleugel. De laatgotische gevel is, evenals de traptoren, opgebouwd uit lagen baksteen afgewisseld met lagen natuursteen en wordt bekroond door vijf dakkapellen, elk gevat tussen twee pinakels en voorzien van een natuurstenen puntgevel, en onderling verbonden door een natuurstenen balustrade. Trapbordes met gebeeldhouwde leeuwen, toegang gevat in een geprofileerde spitsboognis. Boven de vensters segmentboogvormige ontlastingsbogen met natuurstenen blokken; sierankers. De traptoren heeft een onderbouw van vier geledingen, een op de rondboogfries overkragende gebeeldhouwde balustrade en een houten bovenbouw van twee geledingen, de laatste in 1927 aangebracht. Description
Town Hall. The town hall consists of an eleven-bay-wide longitudinal facade and to its left an octagonal stair tower, both built between 1509 and 1520, restored 1897-1881 and 1910; to the right a wing built in 1894. The late Gothic facade is, like the stair tower, constructed of layers of brick alternating with layers of natural stone and is crowned by five roof dormers, each set between two pinnacles and decorated with a natural stone pointed gable, and connected to each other by a natural stone balustrade. Steps with sculptured lions, entrance set in a moulded pointed arch opening. Above the windows segmental arch discharge arches with natural stone blocks; ornamental wall anchors. The stair tower has a base of four storeys, a balustrade projecting over the round arch frieze and a wooden superstructure of two storeys, the latter installed in 1927. The right wing of the town hall is decorated with a cornice-topped facade with triglyphs and an attic. The risalit of the left bay has on the cornice two triglyph consoles, entrance frame with consoles and a superstructure with inscription; the entrance section crowned by two sculptures representing the personifications of justice and truth; two festoons, each with two truncated coats of arms.
