Omschrijving
Herv. kerk (St. Joris). In oorsprong laatgotisch, eenbeukig kerkje, in 1639 uitgebreid met een noorderzijbeuk, waarin een galerij. In 1646 hersteld na schade door een kruitontploffing in het kasteel. Houten tongewelf; houten torentje (plm 1640) boven de westelijke gevel. Restauraties 1920 en ca. 1950. Inventaris: aardige, geverfde rococokansel van eikehout (1762) met koperen lezenaar. Grafzerken XVIIId. Het orgel is geplaatst op een uit 1834 daterende galerij aan de westzijde, heeft een vrij rijk geornamenteerde, witgeverfde, vuren orgelkas. Eenklaviers orgel, in 1834 gemaakt door C.F.A. Naber met gebruikmaking van ouder pijpwerk (ca. 1700). Klokkenstoel met gelui van drie klokken, waarvan één van een anonieme gieter, 1454, diam. 65,4 cm., één van J. van Trier, 1644, diam. 119,2 cm. en één van W. Fremy, 1731, diam. 123,8 cm. Een voorslag van drie klokken waarvan twee van een anonieme gieter, zonder jaartal, diam. respectievelijk 33 cm. en 28,7 cm. en één van I. F. Bagge, 1776, diam. 26,2 cm. Mechanisch torenuurwerk Van Bergen, Midwolda, 1942, met kwartierslagwerk, later voorzien van elektrische opwinding. Aan de kerk is vlak onder de dakgoot een zonnewijzer geplaatst met opschrift: ANNO 1753 ICE-IS-KRn (waarschijnlijk de initialen van de kerkmeesters).

Description
Reformed church (St. George). Originally late Gothic, single-nave church, in 1639 enlarged with a north aisle, in which a gallery. In 1646 restored after damage from an explosion of powder in the castle. Wooden barrel vault; wooden small tower (c. 1640) above the western facade. Restorations 1920 and c. 1950. Inventory: charming, painted rococo pulpit of oak wood (1762) with brass lectern. Gravestones 18th century. The organ is placed on a gallery from 1834 on the west side, has a fairly richly ornamented, white-painted, spruce organ case. Single-manual organ, made in 1834 by C.F.A. Naber making use of older pipework (c. 1700). Belfry with ring of three bells, of which one by an anonymous founder, 1454, diam. 65.4 cm., one by J. van Trier, 1644, diam. 119.2 cm. and one by W. Fremy, 1731, diam. 123.8 cm. A presignal of three bells of which two by an anonymous founder, without date, diam. respectively 33 cm. and 28.7 cm. and one by I. F. Bagge, 1776, diam. 26.2 cm. Mechanical tower clock Van Bergen, Midwolda, 1942, with quarter-hour striking work, later fitted with electric winding. On the church just below the eaves a sundial is placed with inscription: ANNO 1753 ICE-IS-KRn (probably the initials of the churchwardens).
