Omschrijving
Parochiekerk van de H. Dominicus ("Stadhuis van Hoorn"). Driebeukige kruisbasiliek, 1884-1893, van belang als geheel op zichzelf staand verschijnsel in de tweede periode van het oeuvre van P.J.H.Cuypers. Uitwendige versiering met balustraden en pinakels, onvoltooide toren aan de ingangsgevel. Transeptarmen uitgevoerd als lage kapellen. Het zeer brede schip heeft ronde zuilen met bladkapitelen en wordt overdekt door een vlakke zoldering, gedragen door ijzeren balken op eveneens in ijzer uitgevoerde bogen tegen houten muurstijlen. Kruisribgewelven over zijbeuken, koor en dwarsarmen. Het rechthoekige presbyterium is door een hoge triomfboog naar het schip geopend en heeft in de sluitingswand een roosvenster. Oorspronkelijke, naar Cuyper's inzichten uitgevoerde meubilering, polychromie en beglazing.

Description
Parish Church of the H. Dominicus ("Town Hall of Hoorn"). Three-aisle cruciform basilica, 1884-1893, significant as a self-contained phenomenon in the second period of P.J.H.Cuypers's oeuvre. External decoration with balustrades and pinnacles, unfinished tower on the entrance facade. Transept arms executed as low chapels. The very broad nave has round columns with leafed capitals and is covered by a flat ceiling, supported by iron beams on likewise iron-executed arches against wooden wall posts. Cross-ribbed vaults over the side aisles, choir and transverse arms. The rectangular presbytery is opened to the nave by a high triumphal arch and has a rose window in the closing wall. Original furnishing, polychromy and glazing executed according to Cuypers's ideas.
