NIEUWE HOLLANDSE WATERLINIE Inleiding
TANKVERSPERRING als onderdeel van een hindernis in een acces. Versperringen waren bedoeld om pantser- of andere voertuigen de doorgang te beletten. Ze werden aangelegd in de mobilisatieperiode 1939-1940. Ze bestaan uit een aantal schuin naar voren, in de grond of beton gestoken, stalen palen (spoorrails of profielstalen balken), veelal puntig. Vanwege deze vorm worden ze ook wel 'aspergeversperringen' genoemd. Deze snel aan te brengen versperringen zijn na plaatsing moeilijk weer te verwijderen.
Omschrijving
TANKVERSPERRING op de in 1927 aangelegde provinciale weg Hillversum-Weesp, ter hoogte van de Looydijk bij de molen net buiten 's-Graveland. Van de versperring resteert een betonblok, dat alleen zichtbaar is in de zijbermen, tot aan de 's-Gravelandsche Vaart enerzijds en een sloot anderzijds. De dubbele rij spoorstaven en H-profielen is tot op maaiveldhoogte afgezaagd. In oorspong besloeg de versperring de totale breedte van de rijbaan met zijberm.
Waardering
Het complexonderdeel TANKVERSPERRING is van algemeen belang vanwege:
* Cultuurhistorische waarden als onderdeel van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie zoals deze is ontworpen door C.R.T. Kraijenhoff en in eerste aanleg vanaf 1815 door hem, Jan Blanken en majoor-ingenieur Willem Offerhaus is gerealiseerd en daarna door anderen gedurende ongeveer 125 jaar is versterkt en verbeterd.
* Architectuurhistorische waarden in het bijzonder als uiting van de militair-strategische bouwkunde, die gebaseerd is op: a. het systeem van inundatie en accesverdediging (19de en 20ste eeuw), b. de wedloop met de zich versterkende offensieve middelen (20ste eeuw) c. het systeem van 'levende' veldversterking in de diepte (20ste eeuw)
Het onderdeel is een voorbeeld van een tankversperring uit 1939-1940.
* Ensemblewaarde en situationele waarden als onderdeel van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. Tevens vanwege de functionele en fysieke samenhang met de overige onderdelen van het complex.
* Het onderdeel is zeldzaam omdat er relatief weinig herkenbare tankhindernissen resteren.

NEW HOLLANDIC WATERLINE Introduction
TANK OBSTACLE as part of an obstruction in an access. Obstacles were intended to prevent armoured or other vehicles from passing through. They were installed during the mobilisation period 1939-1940. They consist of a number of steel poles (railway rails or profiled steel beams), often pointed, set at an angle forwards into the ground or concrete. Because of this form they are also called 'asparagus obstacles'. These quickly installed obstacles are difficult to remove after placement.
Description
TANK OBSTACLE on the provincial road Hilversum-Weesp laid out in 1927, at the level of the Looydijk near the mill just outside 's-Graveland. A concrete block remains from the obstacle, which is only visible in the side verges, up to the 's-Gravelandsche Vaart on one side and a ditch on the other. The double row of railway rails and H-profiles has been sawn off at ground level. Originally the obstacle covered the entire width of the roadway with verge.
