Inleiding
DUBBELE WACHTERSWONING / DUBBELE DIENSTWONING als onderkomen van (de gezinnen van) een tweetal beambten voor de bewaking van het exercitieterrein en militaire gronden van de Vesting Muiden.
De woning (Kazernestraat 6 en 8), uit het laatste kwart van de 19de eeuw, is opgetrokken in een neorenaissancestijl. De indeling van het interieur is deels gewijzigd. De kapconstructie is oorspronkelijk, maar de dakvlakken zijn op enkele plaatsen doorbroken voor plaatsing van twee koekoeken (zuidzijde) en vier moderne tuimelramen (noordzijde).
Aan de zuidzijde van het pand bevindt zich aan beide woningen een kleine uitbouw onder vlakke dekking, alsmede een schuurtje.
Omschrijving
DUBBELE WACHTERSWONING / DUBBELE DIENSTWONING uit het laatste kwart van de 19de eeuw met de daknok haaks op de Kazernestraat, uitgevoerd in een tamelijk sobere neo-Hollandse renaissancestijl. De dubbele, geschakelde woning is in baksteen opgetrokken vanuit een rechthoekige plattegrond en meet in totaal ongeveer 15 x 9 m. Het vrijstaande bouwvolume bestaat uit één bouwlaag met een met gesmoorde kruispannen gedekt zadeldak. In de daknok bevinden zich drie gemetselde schoorstenen; in het noordelijk dakvlak is een koekoek aanwezig. De langsgevel aan de noordzijde wordt geleed door acht ritmisch geplaatste gevelopeningen driemaal twee vensters, gescheiden door een toegang; de rechtse woning (no. 6) heeft hierdoor twee maal twee vensters; de linkse (no. 8) een maal twee. De inwendige verdeling van het pand brengt het evenwicht terug in de achtergevel die voor no. 8 breder is. Alle gevelopeningen met halfrond boogveld, sluitstenen en enige gekleurde accenten. Er zijn zes smeedijzeren sierankers.
De kopse (west)gevel is blind, maar is voorzien van siermetselwerk in de vorm van in gele verblendsteen uitgevoerde, geometrische fantasiemotieven: ruiten en rechthoeken; oostgevel vergelijkbaar, maar voorzien van drie (mogelijk niet authentieke) vensters. Zuidgevel belangrijk gewijzigd door de aanbouwen.
Waardering
De DUBBELE WACHTERSWONING / DUBBELE DIENSTWONING bij het voormalig exercitieterrein van de kazerne te Muiden is van algemeen belang vanwege:
* Cultuurhistorische waarden als onderdeel van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie zoals deze is ontworpen door C.R.T. Kraijenhoff en in eerste aanleg vanaf 1815 door hem, Jan Blanken en majoor-ingenieur Willem Offerhaus is gerealiseerd en daarna door anderen gedurende ongeveer 125 jaar is versterkt en verbeterd.
* Architectuurhistorische waarden in het bijzonder als voorbeeld van een aan de militair-strategische bouwkunde gerelateerde uiting van historische bouwkunde dienende als dienstwoning bij een militair complex.
* Ensemblewaarde en situationele waarden als onderdeel van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie en vanwege de functionele en fysieke samenhang met de overige onderdelen van het complex.
* Het onderdeel is representatief (karakteristiek) omdat het nog steeds de meeste fysieke onderdelen en kenmerken vertoont die destijds tot bouw aanleiding waren.

DOUBLE GUARDHOUSE / DOUBLE SERVICE DWELLING as accommodation for (the families of) two officials for the supervision of the exercise ground and military lands of the Fortress Muiden.
The dwelling (Kazernestraat 6 and 8), from the last quarter of the 19th century, is constructed in a Neo-Renaissance style. The interior layout has been partly modified. The roof truss structure is original, but the roof planes have been broken through in some places for the installation of two roof windows (south side) and four modern casement windows (north side).
On the south side of the building there is a small extension under flat covering attached to both dwellings, as well as a small shed.
Description
DOUBLE GUARDHOUSE / DOUBLE SERVICE DWELLING from the last quarter of the 19th century with the roof ridge perpendicular to Kazernestraat, executed in a fairly austere Neo-Dutch Renaissance style. The double, semi-detached dwelling is constructed in brick from a rectangular floor plan and measures approximately 15 x 9 m in total. The freestanding building volume consists of one storey with a gabled roof covered with suppressed pantiles. Three brick chimneys are located in the roof ridge; a roof window is present in the northern roof plane. The long facade on the north side is articulated by eight rhythmically placed facade openings – three times two windows, separated by an entrance; the right dwelling (no. 6) thus has twice two windows; the left one (no. 8) once two. The internal division of the building restores balance to the rear facade, which is wider for no. 8. All facade openings with semi-circular arched field, voussoirs and some coloured accents. There are six wrought-iron ornamental wall anchors.
The end (west) facade is blind, but is provided with decorative brickwork in the form of geometric fantasy motifs executed in yellow facing brick: diamonds and rectangles; east facade similar, but provided with three (possibly non-authentic) windows. South facade significantly altered by the extensions.
Valuation
The DOUBLE GUARDHOUSE / DOUBLE SERVICE DWELLING at the former exercise ground of the barracks at Muiden is of general importance by reason of:
* Cultural-historical values as part of the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie as designed by C.R.T. Kraijenhoff and initially realized from 1815 by him, Jan Blanken and major-engineer Willem Offerhaus and subsequently by others for approximately 125 years strengthened and improved.
