Inleiding
Gebouw P2 ligt in een brinkachtige omgeving, tussen nummer 13 en 14 en ongeveer tegenover gebouw E1, bij de T-kruising van een oost-westverbinding en de oostelijke van twee parallelle noord-zuidwegen op Groot-Heidekamp. De daknok is ongeveer oost-west gericht. Gebouw P2 is een in 1940-1941 tot stand gekomen schuur, in oorsprong transformatorhuis, en is op macroniveau onderdeel van een grote militaire vliegveldstructuur uit de jaren 1940-1945, op mesoniveau van een ijl complex van deels in lineair en deels in uitwaaierend brinkdorpachtig verband geplaatste gebouwen, en hierbinnen op microniveau van een reeks in los lineair verband gepositioneerde panden.
Omschrijving
Eenlaagse bakstenen SCHUUR / TRANSFORMATORHUIS op een rechthoekige plattegrond, onder een thans met bitumineus materiaal belegd zadeldak tussen puntgevels, met kort overstek op klossen en midden op het dak een groot, onder zadeldak gelegen ventilatie- of ontluchtingskanaal. Rechts in de noordelijke langsgevel / hoofdgevel een toegangsopening onder rollaag, met een verticaal beplankte naar buiten openslaande deur, waarin op zijn punt een vierkant raampje, en links een dichtgemetselde toegangsopening. Noordelijke langsgevel met centraal een dichtgemetselde toegangsopening en links en rechts twee vensteropeningen met verdeelde ramen. Kopse gevels blind. Het interieur bestaat uit een ongedeelde ruimte met lichtoker geschilderde lambrisering. Dak gedragen door spanten; beschoten kap.

SCHUUR / TRANSFORMATORHUIS, van algemeen belang als goed herkenbaar onderdeel van een uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog stammend en door de Duitse bezetter als onderdeel van een groot militair vliegveld opgezet legerkamp, vanwege: stedenbouwkundige, krijgs- en cultuurhistorische en complex- en ensemblewaarden, die onder meer kunnen blijken uit de voor de bouwtijd kenmerkende onderdelen en details, uit de kunstmatig opgezette brinkdorpstructuur en de tot in detaillering doorgevoerde camouflage, uit de samenhang van en met het totale militaire vliegveldconcept en de ruimtelijke hoofdlijnen en onderdelen van het kampement, en uit de onderlinge verwantschap van de hierbij toegepaste vormen.

Building P2 is located in a brink-like setting, between numbers 13 and 14 and approximately opposite building E1, at the T-junction of an east-west connection and the eastern of two parallel north-south roads on Groot-Heidekamp. Single-storey brick BARN / TRANSFORMER HOUSE on a rectangular plan, beneath a gabled roof now clad with bituminous material between pointed gables, with short overhang on corbels and in the middle of the roof a large ventilation or ducting channel beneath a gabled roof. On the right of the northern long side / principal facade an access opening beneath a roll moulding, with a vertically boarded outward-opening door, with a square pane set on point in it, and on the left a blocked access opening. Northern long side with a centrally blocked access opening and on the left and right two window openings with divided panes. End walls blank. The interior consists of an undivided space with pale ochre-painted wainscoting. Roof supported by roof trusses; boarded roof structure.

BARN / TRANSFORMER HOUSE, of general importance as a readily recognizable component of a military camp dating from the Second World War and established by the German occupier as part of a large military airfield, on account of: urban planning, military and cultural-historical and complex and ensemble values, which may be evident inter alia from the components and details characteristic of the period of construction, from the artificially created brinkdorp structure and the camouflage carried through in detail, from the coherence with and of the complete military airfield concept and the spatial main lines and components of the camp, and from the mutual relationships of the forms applied herein.
