HOOFDGEBOUW (huis Warmelo). Van oorsprong had het in omstreeks 1633 in maniëristische stijl gebouwde pand de vorm van een carré met in het midden een binnenplaats. Het huidige voorhuis was aanvankelijk het poortgebouw en was verbonden met de erachter liggende edelmanwoning via twee lage dwarsvleugels. Rond 1875 zijn de edelmanwoning en de dwarsvleugels gesloopt. Op de voormalige binnenplaats werd, met gebruikmaking van de oude muurdelen, de huidige achterbouw en het achterterras gebouwd, zodat er één geheel met het voorhuis ontstond. De middenpartij van het frontgebouw is tijdens een ingrijpende restauratie in 1927-1929 gewijzigd en zijn vele nieuwe historische interieuronderdelen die van elders afkomstig waren het huis ingebracht. Het door een gracht omgeven bakstenen huis heeft een brede, ondiepe frontvleugel en een smallere achtervleugel. Het pand is bedekt met geglazuurde, gesmoorde Oudhollandse pannen en heeft zowel op het voorhuis als het achterhuis twee hoekschoorstenen. Tussen de twee schoorstenen op het frontgebouw is centraal een klokkentoren geplaatst. Het schilddak van het voorhuis is aan de voorzijde voorzien van twee kleine dakkapellen met uitzetramen. Het thans in vijf traveeën op rechthoekige grondslag opgetrokken frontgebouw heeft een middenpartij met toegangsdeur geflankeerd door twee lantarens en bekroond door een 19de-eeuwse dakkapel met wangstukken en een gebogen fronton. In het fronton bevindt zich een klok uit 1731 van Wilhelm Fremy. Links en rechts van het licht risalerende middendeel van de voorgevel bevinden zich vier meerruitsvensters. In het midden van het schilddak van de achterpartij bevindt zich eveneens een dakkapel met uitzetramen, wangstukken en een halfrond fronton. Daarnaast aan elke kant een kleinere dakkapel. Op de begane grond in het midden meerruitstuindeuren met daarboven een halfrond bovenlicht en ernaast twee meerruitsschuifvensters met luiken. Op de verdieping drie meerruitsschuifvensters met luiken. De zijgevels van de achterpartij hebben elk vier meerruitsschuifvensters voorzien van luiken en worden bekroond door een dakkapel. In het hele gebouw zijn de hoekkettingen, de vensteromlijstingen, de lijsten, de aanzet- en sluitstenen in de ontlastingsbogen van vroegere vensters voor het grootste gedeelte uitgevoerd in natuursteen. Aan de nog aanwezige ontlastingsbogen is nog te zien dat met name de voorgevel in vroegere tijden een andere gevelindeling heeft gehad. Daarnaast zijn overal sierankers aangebracht. In het interieur zijn, behalve de in de jaren twintig van de twintigste eeuw van elders ingebrachte interieuronderdelen, ondermeer de gesneden trapleuning (midden 18de eeuw), de schoorsteen met zandstenen mantel, de gesneden rococo boezembetimmering (midden 18de eeuw) en een aantal van elders overgebrachte schoorstenen van belang. Het achter het pand liggende terras wordt aan drie zijden omgeven door een bakstenen muurtje en is te bereiken via een houten bruggetje aan de rechterzijde van het pand.
Huis Warmelo is via een brug met gietijzeren leuningen, balusters en twee kleine lantaarns verbonden met het door twee bouwhuizen geflankeerde voorplein. Vanaf de brug buigen twee stenen keermuurtjes met betonnen afdekplaten links en rechts af langs de om het huis liggende gracht. Aan het einde van de muurtjes geven twee sierhekjes toegang tot de historische tuin- en parkaanleg achter het pand.
Waardering
Het HOOFDGEBOUW (huis Warmelo) is van algemeen belang:

MAIN BUILDING (Huis Warmelo). Originally built in mannerist style around 1633, the building had the form of a square with a courtyard in the middle. The current front wing was initially the gatehouse and was connected to the gentleman's residence lying behind it via two low transverse wings. Around 1875 the gentleman's residence and the transverse wings were demolished. On the former courtyard, using the old wall sections, the current rear wing and rear terrace were built, creating a unified whole with the front wing. The central section of the front building was altered during a major restoration in 1927-1929 and many new historical interior components, sourced from elsewhere, were introduced into the house. The brick house, surrounded by a moat, has a broad, shallow front wing and a narrower rear wing. The building is covered with glazed, smoked Dutch old tiles and has two corner chimneys on both the front and rear wings. Between the two chimneys on the front building, a bell tower is centrally positioned. The hipped roof of the front wing is provided on the front with two small dormer windows with opening frames. The front building, now constructed in five bays on a rectangular foundation, has a central section with an entrance door flanked by two lanterns and crowned by a 19th-century dormer window with wall pieces and a curved pediment. Throughout the building the corner chains, the window surrounds, the mouldings, the springer and voussoir stones in the relief arches of earlier windows are for the most part executed in natural stone. From the still-present relief arches it can be seen that in particular the front facade had a different facade arrangement in earlier times. Moreover, ornamental wall anchors are placed everywhere. In the interior, besides the interior components introduced from elsewhere in the nineteen-twenties, notable features include the carved staircase balustrade (mid-18th century), the fireplace with sandstone mantel, the carved rococo chimney breast panelling (mid-18th century) and a number of fireplaces transferred from elsewhere. The terrace lying behind the building is surrounded on three sides by a brick wall and is accessible via a small wooden bridge on the right side of the building.
Huis Warmelo is connected via a bridge with cast-iron railings, balusters and two small lanterns to the forecourt flanked by two outbuildings. From the bridge, two stone retaining walls with concrete capping strips bend off to the left and right along the moat surrounding the house.
