Omschrijving onderdeel 2: HISTORISCHE PARKAANLEG
Het landschappelijke park is aan het einde van de 18e of het begin van de 19e eeuw aangelegd op de plaats van het middeleeuwse landschap met boomgaarden, weide- en akkergrond. Bij deze aanleg is de 17e eeuwse structuur met oprijlaan vanaf de Leidsche Rijn en voorplein voor het kasteel gehandhaafd en opgenomen in de nieuwe aanleg. Het landschapspark is gevormd door het vergraven van de slotgracht tot een slingerende waterpartij met nog een tweede tak in zuidelijke richting. Voorts is er een grote open ruimte omzoomd door boomgroepen en gestoffeerd met solitaire bomen. Deze open ruimte is bovendien voorzien van kleine accidentaties. De 17e eeuwse oprijlaan wordt begeleid door beuken daterend uit het einde van de 19e eeuw. Het voormalige voorplein van het oude kasteel heeft aan weerszijden twee rijen 18e eeuwse lindes. De op de ruïne aansluitende slingerende vijverpartij wordt begeleid door ondermeer een treurbeuk, een rij vleugelnootbomen en in een groep geplaatste eiken, vermoedelijk 18e eeuws. Solitaire bomen zijn er ondermeer in de gedaante van een opvallende eik en een suikeresdoorn. Andere groepen zijn een groep van vijf platanen en een reeks lindes die nu nog in restant, maar blijkens oude foto's in een cirkelvorm gepland waren. De Voornse Steeg is voornamelijk begroeid met een reeks beuken en eiken.

De HISTORISCHE PARKAANLEG is van algemeen belang vanwege:

Description of component 2: HISTORICAL PARK LAYOUT
The landscape park was laid out at the end of the 18th or the beginning of the 19th century on the site of the medieval landscape with orchards, pasture and arable land. In this layout the 17th-century structure with the drive from the Leidsche Rijn and forecourt for the castle was maintained and incorporated into the new layout. The landscape park was formed by excavating the moat into a winding water feature with another branch to the south. Furthermore, there is a large open space bordered by groups of trees and furnished with solitary trees. This open space is also provided with small undulations. The 17th-century drive is accompanied by beeches dating from the end of the 19th century. The former forecourt of the old castle has on both sides two rows of 18th-century linden trees. The winding pond feature adjoining the ruin is accompanied by, among others, a weeping beech, a row of winged nutmeg trees and oaks placed in a group, presumably 18th-century. Solitary trees include a striking oak and a sugar maple. Other groups include a group of five planes and a series of lindens which are now only remaining, but according to old photographs were planned in a circular form. The Voornse Steeg is mainly planted with a series of beeches and oaks.

The HISTORICAL PARK LAYOUT is of general importance because of:
- the still clearly recognizable historical-geographical location and development;
