Omschrijving complexonderdeel 2
De hoofdvorm van KLOOSTERTUIN MET -PARK is rechthoekig; west- en oostzijde vormen de korte zijden van deze rechthoek. De belangrijke gebouwen staan aan de westzijde van de aanleg. De omheinde kloostertuin met -park behorende bij het Heilig Hartklooster van de Missiezusters te Steyl heeft in het westen en in het noorden een gesloten en parkachtig karakter met sier- en devotie-elementen terwijl in het zuiden en oosten het meer open van aanzien is en gericht op kweek en nut (bloemen, boomgaarden, fruitteelt). Aan de noordwestzijde overheerst beplanting met o.a. acacia, eik, esdoorn, linde en is een indeling met gazons en een rotstuin aangebracht. De tuin is hier geserreerd en bezet met hoog opgaand geboomte, de kloostermuur vormt de grens met de begraafplaats van de roze zusters. Op enige afstand van de voormalige timmermanwerkplaats wordt een Lourdesgrot met beelden van H. Maria en Bernadette de Soubirous aangetroffen. Het padenbeloop rond deze grot vertoont een sterk slingerend karakter en is afgezet met o.m. klimop. De paden zijn onverhard en afgezet met misbaksels of ratels. Langs de paden van dit kleinschalige onderdeel staan veertien kruiswegstaties opgesteld, de intimiteit van dit voor devotie ingerichte compartiment krijgt aldus een sterker accent. De oostelijke flank van de aanleg en het gebied ten zuiden van het klooster met kapel voorzien in het nuttige compartiment en vertonen een open, weids karakter met o.m. bedden voor bloemen en fruit, boomgaarden. In 1993-1994 is het deel pal ten oosten van het klooster bestraat. De openheid, waarin een orthogonaal padenbeloop valt waar te nemen, zet zich voort in oostelijke richting, al is middenin een ovaal wandel- of recreatiebosje van o.a. eik, esdoorn en rododendron aangeplant. De openheid loopt teniet tegen de ommuurde begraafplaats: een rechthoekig perceel aan de uiterste oostzijde van de aanleg dat door middel van een lang kaarsrecht pad rechtstreeks met het klooster verbonden is. Het terrein bij de begraafplaats vertoont een natuurlijke glooiing.
Waardering complexonderdeel 2
De kloostertuin met -park behorende bij het Heilig Hartklooster van de Missiezusters te Steyl vertegenwoordigt algemeen belang wegens:
- de ouderdom;
- de zeldzaamheid;
- de gave staat van behoud;
- de betekenis voor de geschiedenis van het religieuze erfgoed;

Description of complex component 2
The principal form of CLOISTER GARDEN WITH -PARK is rectangular; the west and east sides form the short sides of this rectangle. The important buildings stand on the west side of the layout. The enclosed cloister garden with -park belonging to the Heilig Hartklooster of the Missiezusters at Steyl has in the west and in the north a closed and park-like character with ornamental and devotional elements whilst in the south and east it is more open in appearance and directed towards cultivation and utility (flowers, orchards, fruit cultivation). On the north-west side planting predominates with among others acacia, oak, maple, lime and a layout with lawns and a rock garden has been introduced. The garden is here terraced and planted with tall growing trees, the cloister wall forms the boundary with the cemetery of the pink sisters. At some distance from the former carpenter's workshop a Lourdes grotto is encountered with figures of H. Mary and Bernadette de Soubirous. The path layout around this grotto has a strongly winding character and is marked off with among others ivy. The paths are unpaved and marked off with seconds or offcuts. Along the paths of this small-scale component fourteen Stations of the Cross are arranged, the intimacy of this compartment fitted out for devotion thus gains a stronger accent. The eastern flank of the layout and the area to the south of the cloister with chapel provide for the utilitarian compartment and display an open, expansive character with among others beds for flowers and fruit, orchards. In 1993-1994 the part directly east of the cloister was paved. The openness, in which an orthogonal path layout can be observed, continues in an easterly direction, although an oval walk or recreation wood of among others oak, maple and rhododendron has been planted in the middle. The openness ceases against the walled cemetery: a rectangular plot at the extreme eastern side of the layout which is connected directly to the cloister by means of a long straight path. The ground at the cemetery shows natural undulation.

The cloister garden with -park belonging to the Heilig Hartklooster of the Missiezusters at Steyl represents general importance because of:

- the good state of preservation;
- the significance for the history of religious heritage;
- the functional, historical and spatial involvement with the Heilig Hartklooster which among others is expressed in the presence of an ornamental, utility and devotional compartment;
