Inleiding
Voormalige rentmeesterswoning genaamd Jachtlust, werd in 1884 gebouwd voor de rentmeester van Huis ten Dijke (ook bekend als borg Dijksterhuis) in opdracht van Gerhard Alberda van Menkema (1829-1902). De borg Dijksterhuis werd in 1903 gesloopt. Het ingevolge de Monumentenwet 1988 beschermde borgterrein ligt op enige afstand ten noorden van Jachtlust en bevat behalve de gracht nog het schathuis van borg Dijksterhuis (Wierhuisterweg 37 te Pieterburen - monumentnummer 14566). De voormalige rentmeesterwoning Jachtlust staat op een lichte verhoging aan de Hoofdstraat te Pieterburen en verschaft als gevolg van de kloeke verschijningsvorm een markant bouwkunstig accent aan het aanzien van de straat en het dorp. In de tuin van Jachtlust staan o.m. een oude es, esdoorn en goudes.
Omschrijving
Jachtlust, voormalige RENTMEESTERSWONING, heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond waarvan één van de korte zijden op de Hoofdstraat is gericht. Het object staat enigszins achter de rooilijn en beschikt naast de begane grond over een zolder; op het haaks op de straat gerichte zadeldak liggen zwarte geglazuurde dakpannen. Jachtlust is opgetrokken in rode baksteen, in kruisverband gemetseld. De voorgevel is symmetrisch ingedeeld, telt drie assen en heeft een centraal geplaatste entreepartij met T-vensters ter weerszijden, een gedeeld rondboogvenster boven de entree (op zolder) met links en rechts een gemetseld ruitpatroon in gele baksteen. De linkerzijgevel is voorzien van twee T-vensters, de rechterzijgevel heeft een indeling met één T-venster en twee rondvensters terwijl de achtergevel is uitgevoerd met een centraal geplaatste (vernieuwde) deur en bovenlicht plus twee rondvensters op de begane grond en een gedeeld rondboogvenster boven de achterdeur (op zolder). Jachtlust beschikt in het exterieur over verschillende vormen van opmerkelijk verzorgde detaillering als bijvoorbeeld een omlopende, natuurstenen plint met frijnslag en profiel; hardstenen brievenbus links van de voordeur; houten, dubbele openslaande voordeur met geornamenteerde panelen, gietijzeren deurroosters, eierlijst op het kalf en wenkbrauwboogjes; rondvensters met metalen bloemtracering; gele baksteen als frisse accenten in het metselwerk, al dan niet afgewisseld met rode baksteen (o.a. boven deuren, ramen, om de rondvensters; op de hoeken); in raamkozijnen duimen voor luiken; hardstenen wapen met jaartal 1884 boven de ingangspartij; rozetankers; houten ajour gootklosjes met florale motieven onder geschulpte dakrand en dito windveren. Inwendig heeft Jachtlust de oorspronkelijke indeling behouden met o.a. een halletje waarvan het plafond met een kraalmotief is gedecoreerd; voorkamer links o.m. met schouw en -boezem, bedstede, lambrisering, geprofileerde raamomlijstingen met binnenluiken, welvende vensterbanken met ondersteunende consoles waarop acanthusmotief; in het vertrek rechts aan de voorzijde o.m. vensterbanken op consoles met acanthusmotief, geprofileerde vensteromlijstingen met binnenluiken, lambrisering, schouw en bedstede. Originele, houten trap naar zolder met houten handlijst. Zolder en kapconstructie in originele staat: gespijkerde sporenkap met dubbele hanenbalk, dakbeschot en trotseerloodjes ("Eenrum 1884"). Slaapkamer op zolder met kast waarin originele kleurstelling (licht groen, zo ook in bedstede op de begane grond).
Waardering
De voormalige RENTMEESTERSWONING genaamd "Jachtlust", in 1884 gebouwd voor de rentmeester van Huis ten Dijke, vertegenwoordigt het algemeen belang op basis van:

Description
Jachtlust, former STEWARD'S HOUSE, has a rectangular ground plan with one of the short sides facing the Hoofdstraat. The building stands somewhat set back from the building line and has, in addition to the ground floor, an attic; on the gabled roof positioned perpendicular to the street lie black glazed roof tiles. Jachtlust is built in red brick, laid in English bond. The front facade is symmetrically arranged, has three bays and features a centrally positioned entrance with T-windows on either side, a divided round-arched window above the entrance (on the attic) with a tiled diamond pattern in yellow brick on the left and right. The left side facade is furnished with two T-windows, the right side facade has an arrangement with one T-window and two round windows while the rear facade is executed with a centrally positioned (renewed) door and fanlight plus two round windows on the ground floor and a divided round-arched window above the rear door (on the attic). Jachtlust features on the exterior various forms of remarkably careful detailing such as for example a running, natural stone plinth with dressing and profile; stone letter box to the left of the front door; wooden, double hinged front door with ornamented panels, cast iron door grilles, bead moulding on the cove and eyebrow arches; round windows with metal flower tracery; yellow brick as fresh accents in the masonry, alternating or not with red brick (among others above doors, windows, around the round windows; at the corners); in window frames thumbs for shutters; stone coat of arms with date 1884 above the entrance section; rose anchors; wooden openwork gutter brackets with floral motifs under scalloped roof edge and similar wind vanes. Internally Jachtlust has retained the original layout with among others a hallway whose ceiling is decorated with a bead motif; front room on the left among others with fireplace and chimney breast, alcove bed, wainscoting, profiled window surrounds with internal shutters, curved window sills with supporting consoles on which acanthus motif; in the room on the right at the front among others window sills on consoles with acanthus motif, profiled window surrounds with internal shutters, wainscoting, fireplace and alcove bed. Original wooden staircase to attic with wooden handrail. Attic and roof truss structure in original condition: nailed collar-tie roof with double tie beams, roof boarding and ornamental rafter tails ("Eenrum 1884"). Bedroom on attic with cupboard in which original colour scheme (light green, also in alcove bed on the ground floor).
