Inleiding
INCOMPLETE MOLEN. Deze achtkante molen is omstreeks 1900 gebouwd als korenmolen en was aan de oostkant voorzien van een invaargrot voor aan- en afvoer over water. Vermoedelijk is het een van elders afkomstige verplaatste molen. Hij is omstreeks 1926 onttakeld, waarbij het wiekenkruis, de kap en het gaande werk werden verwijderd en de invaargrot werd afgedamd. Het zuidelijke segment van de fundering is nadien ontgraven. De incomplete molen kreeg eerst een functie als uitkijktoren en later respectievelijk een functie als vakantieverblijf en als clubruimte. Sinds 1990 is de functie woning annex kantoor. Aan de noordwestzijde is een rechthoekige aanbouw aanwezig. Deze aanbouw valt buiten de werking van de Monumentenwet. De incomplete molen ligt iets verhoogd aan de oostelijke dijk van de voormalige Gieterse Polder aan het Bovenwiede. Er is in de omgeving, zeer in tegenstelling tot vroeger, thans nogal wat opschietend geboomte, maar de incomplete molen is niettemin vrij goed zichtbaar in een open polderlandschap.
Omschrijving
De incomplete molen bestaat uit de gemetselde bakstenen voet met daarop een houten achtkant dat aan de voet ommuurd is. Aan de oostzijde is nog aanwezig de vroegere invaargrot die thans is ingericht als souterrain. De uit vijf bouwlagen bestaande incomplete molen is gedekt met riet en voorzien van een plat dak.
Waardering
De incomplete molen is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege bouwtechnisch-historische waarden als herkenbaar en representatief relict van een achtkante houten korenmolen uit de tweede helft van de 19e eeuw;
- vanwege cultuurhistorische waarden als onderdeel van de geschiedenis van de graanmaalderijen van Nederland en de industriële ontwikkeling van Overijssel en de plaatselijke geschiedenis;
- vanwege situationele waarden betreffende de belendende waterlopen, de overige infrastructuur en de historische gaafheid van de omgeving;
- vanwege de gaafheid van de molenbiotoop;
- vanwege zijn zeldzaamheid als molen die aan één zijde voorzien was van een invaargrot.

Introduction
INCOMPLETE MILL. This octagonal mill was built around 1900 as a grain mill and was furnished on the east side with a water inlet opening for water-borne transport and delivery. It is presumed to be a relocated mill brought from elsewhere. It was dismantled around 1926, whereby the sails, roof and machinery were removed and the water inlet was closed off. The southern segment of the foundation was subsequently excavated. The incomplete mill first acquired a function as a lookout tower and later respectively as holiday accommodation and as a club room. Since 1990 it has functioned as a dwelling with office space. On the northwest side there is a rectangular outbuilding. This outbuilding falls outside the operation of the Heritage Act. The incomplete mill lies slightly raised on the eastern dike of the former Gieterse Polder on the Bovenwiede. There is in the surrounding area, very much in contrast to earlier times, now quite a lot of fast-growing trees, but the incomplete mill is nonetheless clearly visible in an open polder landscape.
Description
The incomplete mill consists of the built-up brick foundation with a wooden octagon upon it which is walled in at the base. On the east side the former water inlet opening is still present, now fitted out as a basement. The incomplete mill, consisting of five storeys, is covered with thatch and furnished with a flat roof.

The incomplete mill is of general importance:
- on account of its building-technical-historical values as a recognisable and representative relic of an octagonal wooden grain mill from the second half of the 19th century;
- on account of cultural-historical values as part of the history of grain mills in the Netherlands and the industrial development of Overijssel and local history;
- on account of situational values concerning the adjoining watercourses, other infrastructure and the historical completeness of the surrounding area;
- on account of the completeness of the mill biotope;
- on account of its rarity as a mill which was furnished with a water inlet opening on one side.
