Inleiding
MOLEN. De als stellingmolen uitgevoerde achtkante bovenkruier met de naam 'De Hoop' is omstreeks 1865 gebouwd als korenmolen. Voor de bouw van de molen werd gebruik gemaakt van een elders afgebroken molen, vermoedelijk een zaagmolen. Sinds 1913 was de molen in handen van de familie Zeeman en kreeg het ook de naam ‘Molen van Zeeman’. De molen is in 1940 onttakeld, waarbij het wiekenkruis, de kap, de stelling en het gaande werk werden verwijderd. De molenromp kreeg een functie als opslagruimte annex verkoopruimte. Hij stond aan de noordwestzijde van 't Zand, aan het molenpad aan de westzijde van het Noord-Hollands Kanaal. . In 2012 is de incomplete molen verplaatst naar de Parallelweg en voorzien van een stelling en wieken. De complete molen is weer maalvaardig. De molen is goed zichtbaar vanaf de rijksweg Alkmaar - Den Helder.
Omschrijving
De molen bestaat uit een lage gemetselde bakstenen voet met daarop een houten achtkant met achtkantstijlen uit één lengte. De uit vier bouwlagen bestaande molen is vanaf de stenen voet tot de duisplanken bekleed met hout en daarboven gedekt met riet en voorzien van een kap en wieken.
Waardering
De molen is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege bouwtechnisch-historische waarden als representatief voorbeeld van een houten achtkante korenmolen uit het midden van de negentiende eeuw;
- vanwege cultuurhistorische waarden als onderdeel van de geschiedenis van de graanmaalderijen van Nederland en de industriële ontwikkeling van Noord-Holland en de plaatselijke geschiedenis;
- vanwege de zeldzaamheid van een stellingmolen met achtkantstijlen uit één lengte en het feit dat het hier een van elders afkomstige, verplaatste molen betreft.

MILL. The octagonal top-drive mill executed as a gallery mill with the name 'De Hoop' was built around 1865 as a grain mill. For the construction of the mill use was made of a mill demolished elsewhere, presumably a saw mill. Since 1913 the mill was in the hands of the Zeeman family and also received the name 'Molen van Zeeman'. The mill was dismantled in 1940, whereby the sail cross, the cap, the gallery and the running machinery were removed. The mill shell received a function as storage space and sales space. It stood on the northwest side of 't Zand, at the mill path on the west side of the North Holland Canal. In 2012 the incomplete mill was moved to the Parallelweg and provided with a gallery and sails. The complete mill is again capable of milling. The mill is clearly visible from the national highway Alkmaar - Den Helder.
Description
The mill consists of a low built brick base with on it a wooden octagon with octagonal stanchions from one length. The mill consisting of four storeys is from the stone base to the dust boards clad with wood and above that covered with reed and provided with a cap and sails.
