Inleiding
INCOMPLETE MOLEN. De als bergmolen uitgevoerde ronde stenen molen met de naam 'Overhekermolen' is omstreeks 1880 gebouwd als korenmolen. De molen sloeg op 27 december 1941 op hol waarbij de as brak en het wiekenkruis neerstortte. De molen is nadien onttakeld, waarbij de kap en het gaande werk werden verwijderd. De incomplete molen kreeg vervolgens een functie als motormaalderij en vanaf 1953 tevens de functie van uitkijktoren. De incomplete molen heeft thans een functie als opslagruimte. De incomplete molen ligt aan de noordwestzijde van Klimmen in het talud van een heuvel op het hoogste punt in de nabije omgeving en is zichtbaar in een open omgeving.
Omschrijving
De molenromp bestaat uit de ronde conisch gemetselde bakstenen romp en de berg van een bovenkruier. De molenromp is verhoogd met een cilindrisch gemetselde opstand die als balustrade diende bij de functie als uitkijktoren. De berg is voorzien van een inrit op het oosten. De uit drie bouwlagen bestaande romp is bedekt met een laag teer en voorzien van een betonnen plat dak. De incomplete molen is nog voorzien van de bergzolder en de zuidoostelijke helft van de steenzolder. De bergzolder is een samenstelling van stalen balken en een betonvloer. De incomplete molen is op het zuidwesten voorzien van een uitwendige stalen ladder. Deze ladder valt buiten de werking van de Monumentenwet .
Waardering
De incomplete molen is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege bouwtechnisch-historische waarden als herkenbaar en representatief relict van een ronde stenen korenmolen uit de tweede helft van de 19e eeuw;
- vanwege cultuurhistorische waarden als onderdeel van de geschiedenis van de graanmaalderijen van Nederland en de industriële ontwikkeling van Limburg en de plaatselijke geschiedenis;
- vanwege de gaafheid van de molenbiotoop en zijn belangrijke landschappelijke betekenis;
- vanwege het feit dat hij een van de zeer weinige overgebleven windmolens van Zuid-Limburg is.

INCOMPLETE MILL. The round stone mill executed as a storage mill with the name 'Overhekermolen' was built around 1880 as a corn mill. Description
The mill body consists of the round conically mortared brick body and the storage section of a top-pivoting mill. The mill body has been raised with a cylindrically mortared superstructure which served as a balustrade when functioning as a lookout tower. The storage section is provided with an access ramp on the east. The body consisting of three storeys is covered with a layer of tar and provided with a concrete flat roof. The incomplete mill is still provided with the storage floor and the south-eastern half of the stone floor. The storage floor is a composition of steel beams and a concrete floor. The incomplete mill is provided on the south-west with an external steel ladder. This ladder falls outside the scope of the Heritage Act.
Valuation
The incomplete mill is of general importance:
- on account of structural-historical values as a recognizable and representative relic of a round stone corn mill from the second half of the 19th century;
- on account of cultural-historical values as part of the history of grain mills in the Netherlands and the industrial development of Limburg and local history;
- on account of the integrity of the mill biotope and its important landscape significance;
- on account of the fact that it is one of the very few remaining windmills of South Limburg.
