Inleiding
MOLENRESTANT. Restant van een achtkante bovenkruier die in 1864 werd gebouwd als poldermolen voor de bemaling van de polder Breeveld ter vervanging van een voorganger. De molen is in 1931 onttakeld, waarbij het wiekenkruis, de kap, het houten achtkant en het gaande werk werden verwijderd. Het molenrestant werd ingericht als gemaal en voorzien van een dieselmotor met pomp. Het gemaal is inmiddels buiten regulier gebruik. Het molenrestant ligt ten noorden van de spoorlijn tussen Woerden en Utrecht en heeft een belangrijke functie in een open polderlandschap.
Omschrijving
Het uit twee bouwlagen bestaande molenrestant bestaat uit de gemetselde bakstenen veldmuren en is voorzien van een steil puntdak met achtkantig grondvlak dat is gedekt met dakpannen. Voorts zijn de waterlopen nog aanwezig, evenals de lange omkade voorboezem die als uitwatering dient naar de Rijn. In het molenrestant zijn een dieselmotor en een pomp aanwezig. Het interieur is deels betegeld.
Waardering
Het molenrestant is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege bouwtechnisch-historische waarden als herkenbaar en representatief relict van een houten achtkante poldermolen uit de tweede helft van de 19e eeuw die in de eerste helft van de 20e eeuw is omgebouwd tot motorgemaal;
- vanwege cultuurhistorische waarden als essentieel onderdeel van de ontginnings- en waterstaatkundige geschiedenis van Utrecht en de plaatselijke geschiedenis;
- vanwege situationele waarden betreffende de belendende waterlopen en overige infrastructuur, het open polderlandschap en de historische gaafheid van de omgeving. Daarbij moet met name worden genoemd de omkade lange voorboezem, een uitwateringsvorm die vanouds karakteristiek was voor de Rijnstreek.

Introduction
MILL REMNANT. Remnant of an octagonal upper-turning mill which was built in 1864 as a polder mill for the drainage of the polder Breeveld as a replacement for a predecessor. The mill was dismantled in 1931, whereby the sail cross, the cap, the wooden octagon and the running machinery were removed. The mill remnant was fitted out as a pumping station and provided with a diesel engine and pump. The pumping station is now outside regular use. The mill remnant is situated north of the railway line between Woerden and Utrecht and has an important function in an open polder landscape.
Description
The mill remnant, consisting of two storeys, consists of the mortared brick field walls and is fitted with a steep pitched roof with octagonal ground plan which is covered with roof tiles. Furthermore, the watercourses are still present, as well as the long surrounding embankment front boezem which serves as drainage towards the Rhine. In the mill remnant are a diesel engine and a pump. The interior is partly tiled.
