Inleiding
Aan de Herenstraat werd in 1888 een STOOMFABRIEK, type stoomkorenmolen, opgetrokken op de fundamenten van een molen die uit de achttiende eeuw dateerde. De molen werd 'de Batavier' genoemd en was de maalderij van de firma Van Mourik. In de molen stond een stoommachine van acht pk. opgesteld. Deze is niet meer
Omschrijving
De aan de Herenstraat gelegen stoomfabriek is opgetrokken op een rechthoekige plattegrond en telt drie bouwlagen onder een met gesmoorde pannen gedekt zadeldak tussen tuitgevels. De gevels lopen taps toe en zijn alle bepleisterd. De voorgevel bevat een ingang, waarboven in de eerste verdieping een dubbele openslaande deur met halfronde bovenzijde is gezet. De tweede verdieping bevat een stalen rondboogvenster en in de top een rondboogvormige opening met een luik. De rechterzijgevel en achtergevel bevatten elk in de eerste en tweede verdieping een halfrond stalen venster. De linkerzijgevel bevat een stalen venster ter hoogte van de tweede verdieping. Tegen deze gevel was tot en met de eerste bouwlaag een aanbouw gezet waarvan deuropeningen in de gevel resteren. Tegen de achtergevel is een aanbouw gezet onder lessenaardak die de voormalige machinekamer, het ketelhuis en het kolenhok bevatte. In het interieur bevindt zich een deel van bet gaandewerk, de aandrijving en een koppel stenen.
Waardering
Het industriële object is van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische en cultuurhistorische waarde als zeldzaam voorbeeld van een stoomkorenmolen met een restant van het gaandewerk.

Introduction
On Herenstraat in 1888 a STEAM MILL, type steam corn mill, was built on the foundations of a mill dating from the eighteenth century. The mill was called 'de Batavier' and was the mill of the firm Van Mourik. In the mill a steam engine of eight horsepower was installed. This is no longer present.
Description
The steam mill situated on Herenstraat is built on a rectangular ground plan and comprises three storeys under a gabled roof covered with grouted tiles between spout gables. The façades taper and are all plastered. The front façade contains an entrance, above which on the first floor a double hinged door with semi-circular top is set. The second floor contains a steel arched window and at the top a semi-circular opening with a shutter. The right side façade and rear façade each contain on the first and second floors a semi-circular steel window. The left side façade contains a steel window at the level of the second floor. Against this façade was until and including the first storey an extension set of which door openings remain in the façade. Against the rear façade an extension is set under a lean-to roof which contained the former machinery room, the boiler house and the coal store. In the interior is located part of the mechanism, the drive and a pair of stones.
Valuation
The industrial structure is of general importance because of the architectural-historical and cultural-historical value as a rare example of a steam corn mill with a remnant of the mechanism.
