Omschrijving onderdeel 2: HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG.
Dubbel omgracht terrein (totale oppervlak 250 bij 200 meter) bestaande uit twee rechthoeken met aan de noordoostzijde de huisplaats met hoofd- en voorburcht (het kasteel is ook afzonderlijk omgracht) en aan de zuidwestzijde de gaarde, thans weiland. De ruimte rondom de huisplaats kende in de 19de eeuw een landschappelijke inrichting met enkele slingerpaden, waarvan enkele oude bomen en taxussen resteren. Met name het noordwestelijk deel, achter het hoofdgebouw, met de ruïne als point de vue, is in landschapsstijl omgevormd met afgeronde oeverlijnen en bosschages. De gaarde heeft langs de grachten aan de noordoostzijde een lindenlaan die aan de noordwestzijde overgaat in een berceau van taxus en aan de zuidwestzijde in een pergola van fruitbomen. In het zuidelijke deel is nog enige begroeiing (beukengroep), nabij de fundamenten van een prieel. De overige inrichting van het terrein, zoals aangegeven op oude luchtfoto's van ca.1930, is niet meer aanwezig. Rondom de buitengracht ligt een lage aarden wal die het gehele complex omsluit; lindenlanen. Haaks op de noordoostelijke gracht/laan staat een rechte dwarslaan (Kasteellaan), waarvan het tracé in de 20ste eeuw gewijzigd is. De Stafkaart uit het begin van de 19de eeuw toont nog de dubbel beplante dwarslaan gericht op de zijgevel van het hoofdgebouw. Aan de noordwestzijde van de historische buitenplaats bevinden zich enige waterbouwkundige werken als een duiker met sluiswerk tussen de binnen- en de buitengracht met een grachtvoeding annex overloop. Aan de westzijde van de historische tuin- en parkaanleg bevond een inmiddels gesloopte kapel ter hoogte van de rechthoekige uitstulping van de beschermde aanleg; de omgevende boombeplanting is nog ten dele aanwezig. De formele indeling van de door lanen omgeven gaard is nog zichtbaar op kaartmateriaal uit de jaren '30 van de 20ste eeuw, maar thans niet meer herkenbaar. De 19de-eeuwse slingerpaden rondom de huisplaats zijn evenmin herkenbaar.
Waardering De HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege de ouderdom;
- vanwege de gaaf bewaarde dubbele grachtenstructuur, het lanenstelsel en omwalling;
- vanwege de restanten van de landschappelijke aanleg en de inrichting van de gaarde;
- vanwege de visueel-ruimtelijke samenhang tussen de verschillende complexonderdelen.

Description component 2: HISTORIC GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT.
Double-moated site (total area 250 by 200 metres) consisting of two rectangles with on the north-east side the homestead with main and outer fortified enclosure (the castle is also separately moated) and on the south-west side the bailey, now meadow. The space around the homestead had in the 19th century a landscape design with several winding paths, of which some old trees and yews remain. In particular the north-west part, behind the main building, with the ruin as point de vue, has been transformed in landscape style with rounded shorelines and thickets. The bailey has along the moats on the north-east side a lime-tree avenue which on the north-west side merges into a hedge-arbour of yew and on the south-west side into a pergola of fruit trees. In the southern part there is still some vegetation (beech group), near the foundations of a summer-house. The remaining layout of the site, as indicated on old aerial photographs of c.1930, is no longer present. Around the outer moat lies a low earthen rampart which encloses the entire complex; lime-tree avenues. Perpendicular to the north-eastern moat/lane stands a straight transverse lane (Kasteellaan), the route of which was altered in the 20th century. The Staff Map from the beginning of the 19th century still shows the double-planted transverse lane directed at the side facade of the main building. On the north-west side of the historic country estate are several hydraulic works such as a culvert with sluice work between the inner and outer moat with moat feeding and overflow. On the west side of the historic garden and park layout was a demolished chapel at the level of the rectangular protrusion of the protected layout; the surrounding tree planting is still partly present. The formal layout of the bailey surrounded by avenues is still visible on maps from the 1930s but is no longer recognisable today. The 19th-century winding paths around the homestead are likewise no longer recognisable.
Valuation
The HISTORIC GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT is of general importance:
- because of its age;
- because of the well-preserved double moat structure, the avenue system and rampart;
- because of the remains of the landscape design and the layout of the bailey;
- because of the visual-spatial coherence between the different complex components.
