Inleiding
Woon-winkelpand, daterend uit de late Middeleeuwen en gesitueerd aan de Parade te Venlo, vanouds een uitvalsroute aan de zuidzijde van de oude binnenstad, en leidend naar de Keulse Poort. De voorpui van het woon-winkelpand is tussen 1966 en 2000 vernieuwd, de overige gevels bestaan goeddeels uit oorspronkelijk metselwerk.
Omschrijving
Het woon-winkelpand vertoont een rechthoekige plattegrond, telt drie bouwlagen en een kapverdieping met dakschild aan de voorzijde en geveltop aan de achterzijde. Het pand is opgetrokken in baksteen en heeft een voor- en achterhuis. De helderrode voorgevel van verblendsteen (uit waarschijnlijk 1966-2000) vertoont, met uitzondering van de begane grond, op verdieping en eerste verdieping een drie-assige indeling: de vensters op elk van deze bouwlagen zijn aan de bovenzijde met sierstucwerk omzoomd. De zolderverdieping heeft in het midden een lunetvormig venster, dat eveneens met sierstucwerk is afgezet. De bouwlagen worden door een lijst van elkaar gescheiden. Aan de linker- en rechterzijde heeft de voorgevel een motief van in wit stuc aangebrachte hoekblokken. Een sobere kroonlijst sluit de gevel aan de bovenzijde af. De kap heeft aan de voorzijde een steil dakschild en is belegd met rode muldenpannen. De linkerzijgevel bevat metselwerk uit de bouwtijd en heeft nog een bovendorpel van een kruiskozijn met ontlastingsboog uit de late Middeleeuwen (voorhuis) en een bolkozijn met luiksponningen en ontlastingsboog uit dezelfde periode plus nog verschillende bouwsporen (achterhuis); ijzeren staafankers en enkele dichtgemetselde balkgaten. De achtergevel bevat o.a. draairamen uit het eind van de 19de-/begin 20ste eeuw, toogjes, rollagen, dichtgemetselde luikopeningen met natuurstenen duimblokken, natuurstenen dekplaten en smeedijzeren muurankers. De rechterzijgevel toont bouwsporen in o.m. dichtgemetselde balkgaten, een venster, een varken en een koude naad. Voor- en achterhuis beschikken over een samengestelde eikenhouten balklaag (moer- en kinderbalken) met strijkbalken tegen de voor- en achtergevel. Op alle verdiepingen is de historische indeling grotendeels verdwenen als gevolg van wijzigingen die sinds 1958 tijdens verschillende verbouwingen zijn uitgevoerd. Inwendig zijn o.m. sleutelstukken uit de 16de en 17de eeuw aanwezig. De zoldertrap bestaat ten dele uit een hergebruikte trapboom. De kapconstructie is opgebouwd uit sporenparen met haanhouten; de sporen rusten op gordingen, die op hun beurt worden gedragen door ankerbalkjukken. De kapconstructie is voorzien van gegutste en gehaalde telmerken. Op basis van dendrochronologisch onderzoek dateert de kapconstructie van kort na of uit het jaar 1552.

Description
The residential-retail building displays a rectangular ground plan, has three storeys and a roof storey with roof slope on the front and gable top on the rear. The building is erected in brick and has a front and rear house. The bright red front façade of facing brick (probably from 1966-2000) shows, with the exception of the ground floor, on the first and second floor a three-bay arrangement: the windows on each of these storeys are surrounded at the top with ornamental stucco. The attic floor has in the centre a lunette-shaped window, which is likewise set off with ornamental stucco. The storeys are separated from each other by a moulding. On the left and right side the front façade has a motif of white stucco applied corner blocks. A simple cornice closes the façade at the top. The roof has a steep roof slope on the front and is covered with red Mulden tiles. The left side façade contains masonry from the building period and still has a lintel of a cross window with relieving arch from the late Middle Ages (front house) and a bulge window with shutter spurs and relieving arch from the same period plus several building traces (rear house); iron rod anchors and some sealed beam holes. The rear façade contains among other things casement windows from the end of the 19th/beginning 20th century, small arches, roll mouldings, sealed shutter openings with natural stone thumbblocks, natural stone coping plates and wrought-iron wall anchors. The right side façade shows building traces in, among others, sealed beam holes, a window, a pig and a cold joint. Front and rear house have a composite oak beam layer (main and secondary beams) with tie-beams against the front and rear façade. On all storeys the historical layout is largely lost as a result of modifications carried out since 1958 during various renovations. Internally, key pieces from the 16th and 17th centuries are present. The attic stair consists partly of a reused stair boom. The roof truss structure is constructed from pairs of rafters with collar ties; the rafters rest on girders, which in turn are supported by anchor-beam yokes. The roof truss structure is provided with grooved and chased carpenters' marks. Based on dendrochronological examination, the roof truss structure dates from shortly after or from the year 1552.
