Inleiding
Voormalig DISTILLEERDERIJ-PAKHUIS "De Waarzegster", gebouwd in de periode 1825-1850, in opzet vermoedelijk ouder, in sobere Neo-Classicistische stijl. Het pand is vernoemd naar het merk "De Waarzegster", dat werd geproduceerd door de voormalige distilleerderij Schade & Buysing, later Schade & Van Westrum.
Bij een verbouwing in 1934, ten behoeve van het maken van kantoorruimte, naar ontwerp van bouwkundige N. Scheurkogel werden er drie vensters op de verdieping gemaakt ter plaatse van de oorspronkelijk aanwezige pakhuisvensters met een indeling en detaillering als op de kapverdieping.
NB: Tegenwoordig heeft het pand de functie van wijnhandel. De gevel aan de zijde van de Lange Haven is geen voorkant meer, maar achterkant. In de loop van de tijd hebben verschillende verbouwingen en doorbraken naar belendende panden aan de Lange Haven en achterliggende panden aan de Westvest erin geresulteerd dat het pand deel uitmaakt van een groter bedrijfscomplex.
Op de begane grond bevonden zich oorspronkelijk twee vensters in de gevel. De deurpartij kwam tot stand bij een verbouwing in 1949. De stoep werd toen aan de nieuwe indeling aangepast.
Omschrijving
Half vrijstaand distilleerderij-pakhuis, opgetrokken in gepleisterde baksteen en bestaande uit twee bouwlagen en een kapverdieping onder een zadeldak met de noklijn haaks op de gracht, gedekt met rode Hollandse pannen. De voorgevel, voorzien van een hardstenen plint en cordonlijsten, bestaat uit een gepleisterde afgeknotte puntgevel met gekorniste lijst. De begane grond is voorzien van blokwerk en geblokte pilasters. Rechts bevindt zich de licht getoogde entree met dubbele paneeldeur, links een eveneens licht getoogd venster met hardstenen waterdorpel. Deur en venster zijn voorzien van een geprofileerde omlijsting, bekroond met ornamenten met pijnappelmotief. Aan de binnenzijde van het segmentvormig bovenlicht van de deur en het venster op de begane grond zijn diefijzers aangebracht.
Uiterst links, náást de eigenlijke voorgevel, bevindt zich een eveneens gepleisterde en van blokwerk voorziene poort tot het achterterrrein. Op de verdieping drie openslaande vensters met licht getoogde bovenlichten. De vensters worden bekroond door een doorgetrokken gekoppelde profiellijst, die ter hoogte van de vensters getoogd is. Ter hoogte van de kapverdieping bevinden zich in het midden twee gekoppelde en licht getoogde zesruitsvensters met aan weerszijden hiervan enkele, licht getoogde zesruitsvensters. De vensters zijn voorzien van hardstenen waterdorpels en worden bekroond met een gekoppelde profiellijst conform eerder beschreven.
De langsgevel is voorzien van een houten goot op consoles.
In het interieur wordt de in goede staat verkerende open houten spantenkap ondersteund door twee standvinken.

Description
Semi-detached distillery warehouse, erected in plastered brick and consisting of two storeys and a roof storey under a gabled roof with the roof ridge perpendicular to the canal, covered with red Dutch tiles. The front facade, provided with a sandstone plinth and string courses, consists of a plastered truncated pointed gable with corniced list. The ground floor is provided with blockwork and fluted pilasters. On the right is the slightly arched entrance with double panel door, on the left an equally slightly arched window with sandstone drip mould. Door and window are provided with a profiled moulding, crowned with ornaments with pine cone motif. On the inside of the segmental fanlight of the door and the window on the ground floor anti-theft bars have been fitted.
Far left, beside the actual front facade, is an equally plastered and blockwork-provided gateway to the rear grounds. On the storey three casement windows with slightly arched fanlights. The windows are crowned by a continuous coupled profile moulding, which is arched at the level of the windows. At the level of the roof storey there are in the centre two coupled and slightly arched six-light windows with on either side single, slightly arched six-light windows. The windows are provided with sandstone drip moulds and are crowned with a coupled profile moulding as described earlier.
The side facade is provided with a wooden gutter on consoles.
In the interior the open wooden roof truss in good condition is supported by two curved tie braces.
Valuation
Former distillery warehouse in sober Neo-Classical style, built circa 1825-1850 of general importance due to its architectural and cultural-historical and image-determining value.
