Inleiding
Vaste VOETGANGERSBRUG genaamd Hopbrug uit 1865 met stijlinvloeden van het Neo-Classicisme, vermoedelijk naar ontwerp van gemeentearchitect C.J. de Bruyn Kops.
De brug ligt over het Oosteinde, een veertiende-eeuwse gracht binnen het beschermde stadsgezicht van Delft, ter hoogte van de Molslaan en de Hopsteeg.
Omschrijving
De brug sluit aan de westzijde direct aan op de gemetselde kade. Aan de oostzijde bevindt zich een bakstenen bruggenhoofd met een trap naar het Oosteinde. De overspanning bedraagt 9,3m. met één doorvaartopening. De doorvaarthoogte bedraag 2.08m boven D.P. en de breedte van het dek is 1,95m.
De brug bestaat uit een onderbouw in metselwerk met gietijzeren kolommen bij de opleggingen. De bovenbouw bestaat uit gewalste ijzeren hoofdliggers (stalen I-profiel) met een dek van ijzeren liggers en troggewelven van IJsselsteen met daarop klinkers. De staalprofielen worden ondersteund door ijzeren, voluut-vormige consoles. De aanzet van het brugdek bestaat uit een hardstenen plaat. De gietijzeren borstwering bestaat uit in totaal zes forse, achthoekige hoekpijlers. De vier kolommen op de brug worden voortgezet in de onderbouw, de twee pijlers die dienst doen ter afsluiting van de trap zijn gefundeerd op het metselwerk van de trap. De doorlopende onderregel en bovenste handlijst worden verbonden door spijlen in doorlopend rondboogmotief, die afgewisseld worden door kleine tussenpijlers. De handlijst loopt aan de oostzijde door in het ijzeren hekwerk langs de kade. Aan de westzijde loopt de balustrade als geheel door tot op straatniveau.

Description
The bridge connects directly on the west side to the brick quay. On the east side there is a brick bridge abutment with a staircase to the Oosteinde. The span measures 9.3m. with one waterway opening. The clearance height is 2.08m above D.P. and the width of the deck is 1.95m.
The bridge consists of substructure masonry with cast-iron columns at the bearings. The superstructure consists of rolled iron main beams (steel I-section) with a deck of iron beams and trough barrel vaults of IJsselsteen with brick headers on top. The steel profiles are supported by iron, volute-shaped consoles. The bridge deck soffit consists of a hardstone plate. The cast-iron balustrade consists of a total of six robust, octagonal corner piers. The four columns on the bridge continue into the substructure, the two piers serving to enclose the staircase are founded on the masonry of the staircase.
