Inleiding
In 1882 naar een ontwerp van de architect dr. P.J.H. Cuypers in eclectische stijl tot stand gekomen PASTORIE van de in 1870-1880 eveneens naar een ontwerp van Cuypers tot stand gekomen en reeds onder MNO 5907 beschermde H. Hartkerk/Vondelkerk. De pastorie ligt ten noorden van de kerk op een teruggerooid perceel aan de rond de Vondelkerk lopende Vondelstraat met kleine voor- en achtertuin. De pastorie valt op door het doorlopende balkon op de eerste verdieping en de portiektrap.
Omschrijving
Op een rechthoekig grondplan tot stand gekomen pastorie met vier bouwlagen: een hoog souterrain, een hoofdverdieping en twee verdiepingen onder afgeplatte dubbele dwarskap met pannen. Gemetselde gedrongen schoorstenen op de noklijn. Met rode baksteen gemetselde gevels in afwisselend koppen- en strekkenlagen en kraalprofielen bij de deur- en vensteromlijstingen. Aan de onderzijde rust de gevel op een plint met afschuining en aan de bovenzijde eindigt de gevel in een eenvoudige gootlijst op uitkragende kroonlijst met blok- en muizentand. Aan weerszijden doorbreekt een gemetselde gedrongen pijler op uitkraging de gevelbeëindiging. De vier traveeën brede voorgevel heeft bij het souterrain één gekoppeld en twee enkelvoudige vensters onder gemetselde segmentboog. Aan de rechterzijde de hoofdtoegang met trap en in getoogd portiek, waarboven een geleed bovenlicht. Eenvoudige gevellijst en smeedijzeren muurankers. Op de hoofdverdieping drie hoge schuiframen met glas-in-lood bovenlichten, waarboven segmentboognissen met siermetselwerk. Op de verdieping een doorlopend balkon over de gehele breedte van de voorgevel op vijf zware natuurstenen consoles met voluut en met sierlijk smeedijzeren hek. Twee schuiframen met glas-in-lood bovenlichten en twee vergelijkbare dubbel openslaande balkondeuren. Eenvoudige gevellijst waarboven de vier minder hoge maar evenzeer vergelijkbare vensters van de tweede verdieping, alle voorzien van segmentboognissen met siermetselwerk. Muurankers en sierlijk smeedijzeren hijsanker.

Description
A rectory with a rectangular floor plan comprising four storeys: a high basement, a principal storey and two storeys under a flattened double hipped roof with tiles. Solid squat chimneys on the roof ridge. Facades of red brick in alternating stretcher and header bond with mouldings at door and window surrounds. At the base the facade rests on a plinth with chamfered edge and at the top the facade terminates in a simple drip moulding on a projecting cornice with block and dentil. On either side a solid squat pilaster on corbelling pierces the gable termination. The four-bay wide front facade has at basement level one coupled and two single windows under a brick segmental arch. On the right the main entrance with staircase and in a recessed porch, above which a glazed fanlight. Simple cornice and wrought-iron wall anchors. On the principal storey three tall sash windows with leaded glass fanlights, above which segmental arch niches with decorative brickwork. On the storey a continuous balcony across the full width of the front facade on five heavy stone consoles with volute and with elegant wrought-iron railing. Two sash windows with leaded glass fanlights and two similar pairs of French doors opening onto the balcony. Simple cornice above which the four lower but similarly designed windows of the second storey, all provided with segmental arch niches with decorative brickwork. Wall anchors and elegant wrought-iron hoist anchor.
Valuation
Former rectory of the Vondelkerk dating from 1882 of general importance on account of architectural and cultural-historical value and typological value as a characteristic example of a late nineteenth-century church residence and the relatively rare application of a front balcony.
