Inleiding.
Ten noorden van kazemat K35, staat op de westelijk kade van het Defensie- of Peelkanaal de S-kazemat K36, daterende uit 1939-1940. De wal ter plaatse is gedeeltelijk afgegraven.
Omschrijving.
De kazemat staat in tegenstelling tot K30 tot en met K35 nìet aan de westelijke zijde van de lokale zandweg die tussen de smalle strookvormige percelen naar de anti-tankgracht loopt, maar er ongeveer 20-30 meter ten noorden ervan. Vanuit het middelste schietgat kan de kazemat frontaal vuur op dit weggetje uitbrengen. De kazemat is gaaf bewaard gebleven en vertoont geen sporen van gevechtshandelingen. Waardering.
De kazemat is van algemeen belang. Het object heeft cultuur-historische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een culturele en geografische ontwikkeling, namelijk de versterking en daaropvolgende verdediging van Nederland tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog en is als zodanig een belangrijk document van de militaire geschiedenis. Het is architectuur- en bouwhistorisch van belang wegens het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de toepassing van moderne materialen en technieken, met name in de verwerking van gewapend beton. Het is ook van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van diverse verdedigingsobjecten- en structuren inzake de nationale landsverdediging.
Het object heeft ensemblewaarden als essentieel onderdeel van een groter geheel: enerzijds als onderdeel van de landsverdediging (het geheel aan stellingen aan de vooravond van de Tweede Wereldoorlog), en anderzijds als belangrijk (structurerend) onderdeel van het Peelgebied dat als militair landschap cultuur-historisch van belang is. De kazemat heeft een bijzondere historisch-ruimtelijke relatie met wegen, wateren en bodemgesteldheid van het gebied. Deze verweving geeft het complex ook een grote belevingswaarde. Verder moet gewezen worden op de gaafheid van het gehele complex. North of casemate K35, the S-casemate K36, dating from 1939-1940, stands on the western quay of the Defence or Peel canal. The rampart at this location has been partially excavated.
Description.
Unlike K30 through K35, the casemate does not stand on the western side of the local sand road which runs between the narrow strip-shaped plots towards the anti-tank ditch, but approximately 20-30 metres north of it. From the middle loophole the casemate can direct frontal fire on this little road. The casemate has been well preserved and shows no traces of combat activity. Valuation.
The casemate is of general importance. The object has cultural-historical value as a distinctive expression of a cultural and geographical development, namely the fortification and subsequent defence of the Netherlands during the Second World War and is as such an important document of military history. It is of architectural and construction-historical significance because of the distinctive use of materials and the application of modern materials and techniques, in particular in the working of reinforced concrete. It is also of significance for the typological development of various defence objects and structures regarding national land defence.
