Semi-detached TOWNHOUSE, located on the west side of Korte Steigerstraat. The building was constructed circa 1890 on the site of the Zaltbommelsche Bierbrouwerij brewery owned by M.D.C. van Mourik. Description

The building, constructed in brick, is erected on an approximately square ground plan and comprises two storeys under a hipped roof. The front and left hip are covered with muted tiles, the rear and right hip with red tiles. The facades are rendered in block pattern.

The asymmetrical FRONT FACADE is four window bays wide and contains in the second bay from the left on the ground floor the main entrance, consisting of a panelled door with single-glazed fanlight. The first floor has three cross windows and above the entrance a French balcony with 2-glazed cross window and single-glazed fanlight. The REAR FACADE contains a pair of round cast-iron windows at the location of the staircase with fine glazing bars. Also a single-glazed window at the very top on the left.

The RIGHT SIDE FACADE contains on the left of the ground floor a later-added conservatory, accessible via a 2-glazed cross window door. Sliding doors have been installed in the cavity as draughtstripping. On the right, the facade has a tall 8-glazed sash window. The INTERIOR contains among other features stucco ceilings with richly detailed central and corner ornaments, black marble mantels, internal shutters and panelled doors. The hallway has Delft blue tilework with geometric patterns. The building contains a staircase characteristic of Zaltbommel from the ground floor to the attic with carved stair newel and cast-iron balusters.
