Inleiding

Introduction

T-FARMHOUSE (1) consisting of a rear building with a front building placed at right angles to it, both with one storey on a rectangular ground plan. The front building with a high central risalit is closed off by a hipped roof with a flat top clad with cement tiles with brick chimney shafts on the corners of the flat section. The facades of the front building with plastered sandstone frame are constructed in brownish-red brick in English bond and have regularly distributed windows. At the level of the upper and middle sill, there is a red facing-brick banding stripe over all facades of the front building. At the top of the facade there is a cornice moulding with above it yellow facing-brick decoration under the brackets of the overhanging, moulded brick gutter. The central risalit in the front facade forms an exception to this. The light wells of the two-pane basement windows with anti-theft bars are located against the left side facade of the front building. The rear building is closed off by a curved, hipped roof with corrugated iron on top of the original reed thatch. Originally at the top of the half-hipped end there was an owl board, which was removed in 1983. The facades of the rear building are constructed in brownish-red brick. In the side facades there are regularly distributed stable windows with a central double split door in the rear facade. The relieving arches in the rear facade are all provided with a red facing-brick voussoir.

To the left of the rear facade stands a WALL constructed in reddish-brown brick in half-brick bond with regularly distributed buttresses. The wall is closed off at the top by a roll moulding.

The symmetrical FRONT FACADE (east facade) is the front facade of the front building, divisible into three bays. The central bay consists of a central risalit of two storeys closed off by an attached, gently sloping hipped roof. On the ground floor and first floor there is an internal porch closed off by a segmental arch with plastered springer, arch and voussoir stones. On the ground floor there is a double panel door in the porch with glazing and decorative grilles with leaded-glass fanlight. On the first floor there is a double door with leaded-glass fanlight. The central risalit is bounded on both sides by corner pilasters constructed in red facing-brick with yellow facing-brick cross decoration provided with banding stripes. To close off the ground floor and first floor there is a cornice moulding. In the left bay there are two T-windows with lead came on both sides closed off by clamped shutters. The windows are closed off at the top by a segmental arch with plastered springer, arch and voussoir stones with decorative brickwork in the arch soffit. On the underside there is a drip moulding. The right bay is identical to the left bay.

The LEFT SIDE FACADE (south facade) consists of the side facade of the rear building and the side facade of the front building. In the side facade of the rear building there are three circular windows with cruciform glazing bars enclosed by a roll moulding. At the far right there is a clamped door. In the side facade of the front building on the left there is a T-window as in the front facade and a door with single-pane fanlight. On the right there are two T-windows as in the front facade.

The symmetrical REAR FACADE (west facade) is the facade of the rear building. Central in the facade there is a double split door with two sections on one side closed off at the top by a segmental arch with plastered arch soffit. To the left and right of the split door there is a round-arch window with iron glazing bars and fork tracery. At the far left and right there is a clamped stable door closed off by a segmental arch with plastered arch soffit. The facade ends in a curved gable.

The RIGHT SIDE FACADE (north facade) consists of the side facade of the front building and the side facade of the rear building. In the facade of the front building there are three T-windows as in the front facade. In the facade of the rear building at the far left there is a single door, followed by four regularly distributed segmental arch-form stable windows with iron glazing bars.

The INTERIOR has been largely preserved in its original state with, among other things, an entrance lobby with etched glass, a dog-leg stair, rich stucco ceilings, marble chimney surrounds, a pump for rainwater and well water, a farmhand's room, a maidservant's room and a cellar with barrel vaults.
