Inleiding
Sint Antoniuskapel gebouwd in neo-romaanse trant omstreeks 1902. De kapel werd gebouwd in opdracht van Elisabeth Clemens.
Omschrijving
Vrijstaande kapel met centraal achthoekig grondplan. De kapel telt een bouwlaag en wordt afgedekt met een tentdak gedekt met leien. Dak bekroond met smeedijzeren kruisje. Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is baksteen in kruisverband. De plint en de hoeklisenen risaleren. Hoeklisenen extra geaccentueerd door toepassing rode baksteen. Ingang met rechthoekige houten dubbele deur in een rondboogvormige bakstenen omlijsting. Aan weerszijden van de deur een bakstenen driekwartzuiltje op een natuurstenen basement en met een natuurstenen kapiteel. Gehele ingangspartij iets risalerend en bekroond met een tuitgeveltje.
In de geveltop van de tuitgevel hardstenen gevelsteen met bloem- en granaatappelmotief. Tuitgevel bekroond met een stenen kruisje en afgedekt met een band hardsteen. In het vulstuk boven de deur een decoratie in schubmotief. In zes van de overige zeven gevelzijden een rondboogvormig glas-in-lood venster. Boogfriezen onder de dakrand. Vensters en deur met hardstenen dorpel.
INTERIEUR vrijwel geheel intact met authentieke vloer met plavuizen; stenen altaar met twee pilasters; houten beeld Sint Antonius uit 1902 van beeldhouwer Joseph Thissen te Roermond; wanden met bakstenen pilasters die een kruisribgwelf dragen; pilasters met natuurstenen basement en kapiteel; houten plafond; glas-in-lood ramen met afbeeldingen van taferelen uit het leven van Sint Antonius; vier tableaus met hierin geglazuurde gedachtenistegeltjes.
Waardering
De Sint Antonius kapel is van cultuurhistorische waarde als uitdrukking van een culturele en geestelijke ontwikkeling.
Architectuurhistorische waarden ontleent de kapel aan het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de ornamentiek. Ensemblewaarde ontleent de kapel aan de situering langs een invalsweg van de kern Heythuysen en daarmee is de kapel van belang voor het aanzien van dit deel van de gemeente. De kapel is tenslotte van algemeen belang wegens de gaafheid van in- en exterieur en de typologische en functionele zeldzaamheid.

Freestanding chapel with central octagonal floor plan. The chapel contains one storey and is covered with a tent roof covered with slates. Roof crowned with wrought-iron cross. The building material applied is brickwork in cross bond. The plinth and the corner pilasters project. Corner pilasters extra accentuated by the application of red brickwork. Entrance with rectangular wooden double door in a round-arched brick frame. On either side of the door a brick three-quarter column on a natural stone base and with a natural stone capital. Entire entrance section slightly projecting and crowned with a spout gable.
In the gable top of the spout gable a hard stone facade stone with flower and pomegranate motif. Spout gable crowned with a stone cross and covered with a hard stone band.
