In het buitentalud van de Lekdijk opgenomen PEILSCHAAL, bestaande uit een nagenoeg rechthoekig ommuurd verzamelbekken voor water waarin een hardstenen paal. De in kruisverband gemetselde muur is voorzien van hardstenen afdekplaten. Vanaf de dijk gezien staat de hardstenen peilschaal opgesteld tegen de achterwand van het verzamelbekken. De rechthoekige peilschaal heeft een halfronde kop. Aan de voorzijde is met streepjes een verdeling aangebracht tot 70 boven NAP.

PEILSCHAAL uit het laatste kwart van de 19de eeuw.
- Van architectuurhistorische waarde als typologisch goed en zeldzaam voorbeeld van een instrument voor het meten van de waterstanden. Dergelijke objecten werden in de tweede helft van de 19de eeuw in het Gelderse rivierengebied gebouwd ten behoeve van de waterbeheersing. Het functioneel opgezette object is redelijk gaaf bewaard gebleven qua hoofdvorm en materiaalgebruik.
- Van cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een landschappelijke ontwikkeling, in casu de vroegere wijze van waterbeheersing in het Gelderse rivierengebied. De watersnoden van 1855 en 1861 zijn de directe aanleiding geweest voor de bouw van dergelijke meetinstrumenten in Gelderland.

Description
A GAUGE SCALE incorporated into the outer slope of the Lekdijk, consisting of an approximately rectangular walled collection basin for water in which stands a hard stone post. The wall, laid in cross bond, is fitted with hard stone coping plates. Viewed from the dike, the hard stone gauge scale is positioned against the rear wall of the collection basin. The rectangular gauge scale has a semicircular head. On the front side, a division has been marked with lines up to 70 above NAP.
