Inleiding
VILLA met bijbehorende ERFSCHEIDING, in schilderachtige eclectische trant uit 1895, naar ontwerp van de bouwkundige J. de Groot, gesitueerd in villawijk 'De Boomberg'.
De villa ligt iets teruggerooid in een grote tuin, afgescheiden van de straat door een ijzeren hek.
Omschrijving
Asymmetrische villa van twee bouwlagen op een nagenoeg vierkante plattegrond onder een samengesteld schild-zadeldak met gesmoorde Hollandse pannen. De noklijn van het zadeldak staat loodrecht op de straat en het schilddak is afgeknot. De witgepleisterde gevels zijn voorzien van schijnvoegen, 'pseudo-vakwerk' en een cordonlijst. Langs de dakranden een eenvoudige sierlijke houten lijst en in de geveltoppen uitkragende sierspanten op consoles. Overwegend schuifvensters en dubbele glasdeuren met persiennes. Onder de vensters gepleisterde rechthoekige friezen met geometrische ornamenten.
De voorgevel (N) telt drie vensterassen, waarvan de rechter in een risaliet met puntgevel en sierspant. Aan de rechter zijgevel (W) links een rechthoekige houten serre met schuifdeur en daarboven een klein balkon met gietijzeren hek en een dubbele glasdeur. De entree bevindt zich in de middelste van de drie vensterassen van de linker zijgevel (O). De oorspronkelijke rijk uitgevoerde paneeldeur is voorzien van decoratieve diefijzers. De achtergevel (Z) heeft links een vensteras met beganegronds een dubbele glasdeur in een risaliet met puntgevel en sierspant en rechts de plat afgedekte bijkeuken met opgeklampte deur en kleine venstertjes. Inwendig is de oorspronkelijke plattegrondindeling met een centrale hal en trappenhuis bewaard gebleven, evenals onderdelen zoals een marmeren gangvloer, een tochtpui met geslepen glas, rijk uitgevoerde marmeren schouwen en stucplafonds.
Langs de straat een eenvoudig ijzeren tuinhek.

Asymmetrical villa of two storeys on an almost square floor plan under a composite hipped-gabled roof with concealed Dutch tiles. The ridge line of the gabled roof stands perpendicular to the street and the hipped roof is cut off. The whitewashed facades are provided with ashlar joints, 'pseudo half-timbering' and a drip moulding. Along the roof edges a simple ornamental wooden moulding and in the gable tops overhanging ornamental braces on consoles. Predominantly sash windows and double glass doors with shutters. Below the windows plastered rectangular friezes with geometric ornaments.
The front facade (N) has three window bays, of which the right one is in a projection with pointed gable and ornamental brace. On the right side facade (W) on the left a rectangular wooden conservatory with sliding door and above it a small balcony with cast-iron railing and a double glass door. The entrance is located in the middle of the three window bays of the left side facade (E). The original richly executed panelled door is provided with decorative hinges. The rear facade (S) has on the left a window bay with on the ground floor a double glass door in a projection with pointed gable and ornamental brace and on the right the flat-roofed scullery with clamped door and small windows. Internally the original floor plan layout with a central hall and stairwell has been preserved, as well as components such as a marble hallway floor, a draught lobby with cut glass, richly executed marble fireplaces and stucco ceilings.

Valuation
The late nineteenth-century villa with associated boundary fence is of general importance because of its cultural and architectural-historical value as a representative and almost intact example of a villa in picturesque eclectic building style. The villa is of high urban planning importance because of its ensemble value as a characteristic and defining part of the well-preserved villa park 'De Boomberg'.
